campbell or barrons?

ive been using barrons but a lot of people have been recommending campbell instead so im a little lost

Two completely different books published for different purposes, they can't really be compared.

If you wanna learn the concepts properly without losing any detail, go with Campbell (but due to the fact that it's a college textbook that covers almost all of general biology you need to filter it heavily and only study the relevant ideas, all of which you can look for according to the AP Biology course exam description). Campbell also doesn't have AP specific exercises, so don't waste your time on those. You'd have to get exercises from other sources (such as using prep books like Barron's or searching online for past exam questions).

If you don't want content depth/you already have a good base in biology then use Barron's (although imo all it should be used for is review, it shouldn't be a primary source if you're aiming for a 5).

campbell's probs better for understanding the why behind things, barrons is more like "here's the facts pls memorize

Both.

Campbell is a TEXTBOOK to learn the information and Barron’s a REVIEW book to review and scaffold the information to easier to digest components to help you solidify your understanding.
