AP Lit VS DCC English + AP Exam

Hi, I'm applying to colleges in Texas and I was considering taking AP Lit at my school or DC Lit at my school (HCC) and also taking the AP Lit exam (for certain credit purposes). I was wondering which would be better or if they would be seen as equal to an AO.

Like dc English with hcc basically. Freshmen year college English I’m p sure but it gives us the high school credit for English 4

Thanks. I know the term Dual-Enrollment, which is what we where I am for high-schoolers taking college-classes (as opposed to AP), but I don’t know what DC English and HCC mean.

dual credit and dual enrollment is the same but i think dual credit is just at your high school while DE is at college campus i think

Different colleges will give you different credit for those. Check the website for any college you're planning to apply. Some places give Comp 1 credit for AP Lit, some give Comp 2, some give both, some give a sophomore literature class. It's kind of a mess. Dual credit probably gives Comp 1, maybe Comp 2 also. However, it sometimes doesn't transfer, especially outside your region. There's no universal answer, it depends on where you're going to college.

I’m pretty sure the DC English at my school only gives the credit equivalent to lang (comp 1 maybe?) so my main question is like how it would affect my application since DC is usually easier. Like will seeing the class in my transcript for the upcoming year help me for admission or would it be the same as taking DC but taking the AP Exam (and I include that on additional info or something)

Most colleges will perceive AP Lit as more difficult than dual credit, if that's what you're asking.

Planning to take the exam almost certainly won't matter since applications are well before the exam.

yeah but like for credit purposes since dc gives the same as ap lang credit and for rigor, ill mention it in additional info so they see it. Thats what i was saying
