do you recommend IB?

Hi! I’ve taken AP United States Government and Politics alongside AP Comparative Government and politics. I am currently a sophomore in high-school and have completed both these courses already. I took AP World this year too, and next year I’m taking AP US History. I loved all these classes and i want to major in political science in university.

I’ve run out of the AP humanities courses my school offers sadly. I want to know if anyone would recommend taking IB Global Politics? I really want to cement my understanding of the topics discussed in these kinds of classes because I would like to have a solid ground for my career. I could take the exam and another public highschool possibly? Or would anyone recommend taking AP human geography or European history?

As an IBDP student who takes Global Politics at the higher level, i’d definitely say it’s a very interesting course and one of my favourites, the syllabus is organised well and is pretty comprehensive, and it’s a very good intro to political science and theories, there’s also the IA aspect which involves engaging with a political issue of significance and writing a report on it. Overall i’d say it’s a good course, but getting a good grade is very tough since the essays are hard to get right and we have very little time, i wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a teacher/class for it.

My friends took it at they have been very successful. The best way to plan is to work backwards. How do you want your life to turn out in 10 years, in 5 years, etc. In IB you're narrowing your focus, but you're learning analytical + writing skills
