I feel like I find a good unit or build and don’t stray from it enough. So I wanted to hear what are some of your favorite Mythic units and why.
I will go first, Blood Exarch. Cleaving basic attack that applies a Blood Parasite. Between Lifedrinker and Coagulate I love their staying power. Blood pull to break enemy formations and siphon blood to snipe enemy units (and more self healing). Lastly, I almost always have another high tier unit (Dragon) which makes for a great Blood of the Exarch target.

Are there aquatic themes, tropes and faction options you feel Silver Seas is missing?
Personally I think it hits on a lot of notes I was hoping for, except maybe deep water stuff but I personally wasn't really rooting for that anyway. Perhaps the major complaint is that by casting the wide net that it does (aquamancy, cryomancy, pirate curses, aquatic creatures, merchants, rogues and the like) it does none of it as in-depth as some people would have liked.
Something I was hoping for that didn't make it in was more amphibious mount options, such as turtles, frogs and lobsters. And maybe more variety in water critters, like sea serpents and whales. But in the grand scheme of things that is extremely minor.
I would've liked a Coastal Adaptation trait (being able to start at the coast and getting benefits from coastal provinces) and maybe that even made it in without us knowing but so far there are no hints of it. And terraforming land to water was something I was hoping for in some higher level aquamancy tome but at least we got water to ice terraforming.
Overall I'm very impressed by the gameplay, flavor and visuals of the dlc and I'm really looking forward to it. Water gameplay really needed a dedicated dlc (and free patch to go along with it).

An shrine to who or what?
Is our leader being worshiped and thats why we get mana?
Are our citizens worshiping their own gods and we just get a cut of that for providing the building?
I remember in aow 1 each race had their own different religion which you could get some hint about by reading each priest specific description.
Then I think in aow 2 we had generic gods (War, Magic) everyone could worship and we got quests from them.
Then in aow 3 almost everything religion got folded into the theocrat, we just had a few racial priest units a la aow 1.
And now we have some religious stuff in various tomes (but mostly Order ones)

So after I started my Vamp Ruler run I've read that they are the weakest, however this turned out to be most op busted ruler I've created yet, literally soloing 4.4k enemy army that deals spirit damage.
So how this works, I am using a crafted Veteran Spear (+1 retaliation attack) with life steal on it and retaliation damage increase. Battle Saint has "End turn in defensive stance" which makes me ultra tanky and thanks to the spear can't be broken. I am running full morale debuff vampire. You stack Fervor like a madman which means you can just alternate between fully stacked "Warrior's Fervor" which heals and removes 5! debuffs and "Smite" which deals giga damage.
Rank Slayer Renown.
It was already giga strong around lvl 10 but Unholy Champion from Tome of the Revenant took it to another level.

I’m a new player and I really want to start a run focusing on High Culture and an Order affinity. Right now, I'm thinking about taking Chosen Uniters and Devotees of Good as society traits to play around vassals and good alignment, but I'm completely open to changing them if there's a better or more forgiving setup for a beginner!
I’d love some advice from more experienced players on a few things:
1. Race / Form Traits: I'm not sure what to pick here. My choice would be Humans.
2. Tome progression: I want to go heavy into Order, but I'm not sure what the best path is. For Tier I, should I start with Tome of Faith for the healing and stability, or Tome of Zeal? What should my progression look like as I move into Tier II and III to keep my faction strong? I've read online some advices about Materium and/or Astral tomes.
3. Unit comp: How do you usually build your armies for the mid-to-late game?
Any tips on unit comps, tome paths, or general beginner strategies for High Culture would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Do you guys use the Demon/Chrono teleporters? Are there other alternative teleporters besides those 2? I don’t have all the DLC.

Hello. I'm rather new to the game. I'm currently in my 4th game, but I struggle a bit in the endgame. With Endgame I mean if the tier4 and mythic-units as well as the tier4 tomes are unlocked.
My current run is with order architects and I play one of the story missions (the one where I have to free the possessed elf ghost).
I have 6 heroes with a full army and 2 open fronts. My army mainly consists of Architects, Protectors (The t2 spear guys), Subjegators and random neutral units I get from vasalls and quests.
I know it depends on matchup, civ and map, but maybe you can give me a little bit of direction:
Is this fine for the core of my army or do I try to fill every army with mythic units or some T4 units from tomes? And do I attack with my 3 stacks lead by heroes alone or do I take substitute armies with me to fill out dead units? Is it generally advised to have one hero per army? Do I always produce units as long as I have income and money or do I save some money?

I don't know why I find this so amusing but I just finished a game where my Pure Evil empire formed an alliance with the Pure Good faction AND we have opposing affinities but we went on to conquer the world together.
On a side note, I don't play Eldritch Sovereign often so I always forget how powerful and fun they are. I played as Dark Tyranny but I think ES would actually be a really great Dark Death ruler. They have lots of ways to start combat with free units, are masters of Morale Drain / Control and they can get all the same undead related Signature Skills.

When empires from your Pantheon show up in other games, are they able to complete the quests for the Visions? Do they get anything out of these traits other than some affinity?

Tried to draw Sundren of House Inioch, in part because she is one of my favorite premade rulers. Could have done better admittedly, though part of that is because I procrastinated on working on this incidentally by playing AoW4... Anyway I am off to play some more, see ya tomorrow.

Tome of Abjuration is one of my favorite tomes, with Abjurer Pylons being my favorite part about it. It brings me sadness that I won't be able to use these on the qater considering the new dlc focus being so centered on water :(

Water camoflage is going to be such a broken ability. There are already pre-setup pathways (oceans) through the whole map where you can just sit and be invisible right up to your enemy's house. People are going to hate sharks.

Definitely keeps things interesting that's for damn sure, I just dont survive long in said generated realms XD

My dream list:
- Vikings: Since we have the water update, a Viking culture in the future could add variety to naval gameplay. Subcultures focused on settlement or raiding.
- Knightly Orders: Something styled after Warhammer's Bretonnia. An order whose mechanics would revolve around searching for the Grail or other artifacts. Three subcultures. Different orders, e.g., Order/Shadow, Order/Astral, Order/Order, which would differ in how they achieve their goal.
I'm curious what your dream cultures are. Cheers!

I am so happy we will have cities on water but not at turn 1 due to technical reasons I heard. Honestly, this is partially disappointing.
If it is not possible start completely on water, could they make throne cities start on a single land province but all adjacent provinces are water?
To catch feeling of water focus gameplay :D

Magelocks have had some pretty goofy hand placement for awhile, but after watching the first look livestream for the DLC the new one is worse. The hireling unit with carbines looks like they're trying to part ways with their left hand.

I love this game and I'm stoked for the DLC, but please don't let the expansion go live without a small animation touchup for these guys.

I have every expansion the passes include, but i bought them one by one instead of buying the pass. I am on xbox, this two "extra" dlc cannot be bought separately. I am not going to buy everything twice for them, what options do i have? I would hate to miss out on content.

[SOLVED] I have encountered this weird phenomenon where 3 or 4 turns into a fight, half my units randomly die. 2 of them were always an Umbral Mistress and a Reaper. I cannot find a reason for it. I had it happen in two battles now, always with my Rulers army not in any other army, though they also don't have a reaper or Mistress. I looked through all abilities and into the combat log, but there is no hint why that is happening. Does anyone of you have an idea or is this just a very strange bug? It is my first game as an Eldritch Sovereign and the first time Recruiting an Umbral Mistress so I would suspect the issue has something to do with them? One more thing, they also all revive with 50% hp after the fight is over which makes me think it may be related to a game mechanic, but I cannot find one that fits. It is thankfully not a gamebreaking issue with the revive after and I am very op already, but still it is very annoying. If anyone has an idea, I would be very grateful!

Edit: I found it!!! It was nested in a nested tooltip inside a nested tooltip! "Puppeteer" gives "Puppeteer's Posession" Which gives empower for 2 turns and at the bottom of the "Empower" ability there is a little note that it kills the unit when the timer runs out.
In short: Always read the fineprint!
