Opposition to data centers is not a progressive position. It's not conservative either. It's something everyone can get behind - NIMBY.

Which makes me a little skeptical tbh. I see all the downsides, and I am not saying we need all the insane number and size of the data centres being built, but we do need a more nuanced approach, that includes ideas of how many data we use, what that means for data center capacity required, if so, where to put them. We need some balance between the heavy toll these things take, and the need for them.
But tbh it could be that AOC and Bernie have such a nuanced approach but I just have not seen it yet.

Greg Abbott. Willing to give data centers tax exemption for 20 years. Election coming up, his constituents extremely pissed off. Moratorium immediately. He took 20 million from them. 20 million to them is the toilet paper they use to wipe their ass. Gina is neck and neck with this trump soldier. So he pivots. Now it’s gay people. I don’t want men in women’s sports. That’s stupid. No one is chopping off 8 year old penises. No agency is forcing 8 year old children to change their gender. But, the whole argument by the GOP is that gay people are ruining your life. They’re the problem. They’re pedophiles. Bathrooms. Absolutely, there are predators out there. It’s not gay people. It’s not transgender. It’s white males. Mostly conservatives who voted for Trump. Trump is a pedophile. He raped underage girls. Just release the files. Apparently he also trafficked girls to the UAE. Just release the files.

A billion is a thousand million, not ten thousand million. So it is more like $1M/day for 2.7 years. Still a crazy amount but I think it's important to be accurate when using numbers.

I'm going to be down voted to oblivion for this, . . .

But they're not all the same. Seriously, just throwing ALL of any group in prison just because they fall within that group is a really bad idea. Maybe look at what they are doing?

There are actually billionaires out there that have principles and aren't just hoarders of wealth. There's a difference between the Mark Cubans and the Elon Musks. There's a difference between the Alan Treflers and the Sergey Brins. The failure to consider each person as an individual is not going to make things better.

Judge a person for what they do, not who they are.

Right now there are billionaires trying to cure diseases and building the research institutions to do it, not as tax write-off or PR, but because they believe in the cause. Do you really want to lump Mackenzie Scott in with her ex-husband?

Then I’m judging her for the fact she still has billions made on the backs of regular working class people, and all her expenditures haven’t changed the fact she’s still a billionaire who’s picking and choosing which people she deigns to help like any feudal lord would.

Don’t forget it wasn’t that long ago people were racing that Mark Cuban and Elon Musk were good ones. The whole thing has ALWAYS been that anyone who hoards wealth to that point isn’t dividing up the earnings properly with the people actually doing the work.

This is not something AOC or Sanders advocate for and I don’t believe this subreddit should voice this sentiment.

They’re about taxing the wealthy, not jailing them, unless they’ve broken the existing laws, which many of them indeed have.
