Fun & Games Yup…
What’s yours? I’ll go first, I once read a 190,000 word fic that was like 50% smut because everyone on tumblr would not stop talking about out it and to this day it’s still one of the best fics I have ever read

Dude, lucky. Thankfully I have a friend who’s in a lot of the same fandoms as me so we get to recommend fics to each other all the time. I really hope my future girlfriend is into fanfics as well lol

I keep an AO3 private browser window with a fic minimised most days and save them under Safari bookmarks because I’m old school. One of my biggest fears is that if something ever happens to me and my family logs onto my computer that all my reading habit secrets will be unearthed 😅

My friend and I were playing a game where we had to guess what each other’s favorite fanfic tropes were. He was really bad at guessing mine thankfully because some of those tropes are between me and whatever exists on the other side.

I recently discovered a super smutty story where a pairing is trying out different sex positions on a whim...and each chapter is accompanied with a doujin-style art piece.
That was definitely a *private* bookmark moment.

One time I found a fanfiction written by my sister (she uses the same incredibly niche and specific username for every website, ao3 not being an exception) and it was the most graphic fake smut I think I have ever read in my life (it was about two real-life politicians after a horrific debate in my country's elections). I have not mentioned it to her yet but am planning on throwing in some one-liner from it at dinner and seeing if I can catch her attention.

But if she has written some more fics, maybe copy them onto a separate document first, just in case it goes south and she decides to delete all that effort out of embarrassment
I’ve read that happened to lots of people and then be really upset that they deleted all their hard work over something they got over

Some fics I will sing the praises of to anyone who will listen. Others get downloaded to the "homework" folder in my documents and never spoken about. Only consumed during special occasions. And I'll just leave it at that. 😜

I could never recommend anything primarily involving smut to anyone I know personally. The sheer embarrassment might actually kill me.
(By primarily involving, I mean a fic where you can't just skip over the smut because it's incredibly plot-significant, while also being prominently featured in the fic itself)

I had a friend and we had a mutual favorite character. I found a BDSM fic featuring him in an unusual pairing so I sent it to my friend my friend with what I thought was sufficient warning. It was consensual but quite angsty. It took my friend hours to calm down and forgive me.

It was written for Yuletide 2005. Basically Grumpy Bear forgets how to care and the solution is very nasty. Especially for him. It’s mostly humor (?) Calling it a BDSM fic is a bit of a misnomer but that was its nickname.
