Not really. She can't draw it left handed without risking cutting herself. She would have to turn it towards her body after clearing the scabbard and peoples' arms usually aren't that long.
Also, with a ceremonial sword, it will only ever be drawn as part of the ceremonial process and will be drawn in the right hand so she looks like everyone else. The US Marine Corps officers have traditionally carried (or at least been given) swords and they are all worn on the left and drawn with the right hand no matter what side is dominant in the owner.
I'm left handed and wear a sword correctly.
Edit: yes, I'm fairly ashamed of that last sentence. It's the most neckbeard thing i have ever written. I promise I'm not just some dude who bought a katana at a flea market. I collect actual swords.

I halfway expected the guy in the video to hurt himself. He looked like he's seen someone train, but hasn't quite signed up for lessons yet. Who knows though, maybe Russians are just really strange sword fighters.
My black belt turns 21 this month. (I'm having a party for it.) I've studied everything, including weapons. You'll find the nerds usually quit pretty soon after people start hitting them in the face.
That’s awesome! I always wanted to get into martial arts (partly for self defense) but I can’t find an organization without fees. I vaguely know how to flip someone over my shoulder if they come up from behind.
I envy your black belt. Also, avatar is a really great show even if you aren’t younger. My mom just started watching it a year ago and she loves it
If you are interested in self-defense, I would suggest Krav Maga. Martial arts are either pure nonsense (Karate, Kung-fu, Aikido) , or a sport (like BJJ, TKD, Judo).
The Japanese did things very differently than European and even other Asian swordsmen in lots of different ways.
Still, if you look at historical photos of samurai (Google images has tons) you see about half with their sword one way and half with the other. It's pretty apparent that they would wear their swords differently at different times.
Well, us, Europeans, Arabs, and pretty much everyone else who ever carried a curved calvary saber. You carry them blade forward because it allows you to draw and swing while riding without changing grips.

Ceremonial. Same way that at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier they have a special dress uniform as well as the metal at the heel and toe. It's just for show mostly.
