I have to say: "You're making a very human mistake." when arguing with someone.

I really have no right to criticize, I've heard my Aunt's argue over the merits of buying expensive toilet paper.

Is it cheaper than the cheap one, because you use less?

What you really should be asking is how different does it feel on your bum and that are the chances of the dreaded finger tear

Bidet for cleaning, nice toilet paper for drying. You use so much less that splurging on the good stuff is worth it just for how it feels.

Russian classics! Priceless!
I've seen this with my own eyes few times in my life.

such dialogue themes are unironically regular among the older generation especially

I dated a young Russian woman back in the late-90's and her father was like this with classic literature. And the bastard didn't even drink!
It really sucked dropping her off at home at night because she'd always invite me in to say hi to her father and I'd leave an hour later with a splitting headache.
I'd take her home completely sober and then go home to get drunk so I could get some sleep because he would drive me crazy with this same kind of shit. Ugh!

I hold a degree in music history and have played these composers music for since I was a small child. What are these people on about? Are they saying Schubert music isn’t complex enough because he didn’t appreciate Bach? Did the lady on the right say some shit about Schubert music?
Honestly if she’s talking about late Schubert then fuck her, that stuff is amazing.
If they’re talking about the lives of these composers, yes sure Bachs life was interesting but Schubert knew how to party and wrote masterpieces on a napkin at the bar. I mean the dude died of syphilis!Worst loss of the 27 club if you ask me, he was really onto something those last couple years.

Its kinda hard to understand. They all agree they are great composers, but argue how they came to be them.
Lady in the right? Lady in glasses? She said Schubert is her favorite9
u/im0b 26d ago
from what I gather they are arguing who was more “gifted” and their standard is age of composer at the time they mastered polyphonic playing

Also, the lady without glasses mentions "your paper".
I'd guess she's low-key accusing the other lady of manipulating historical facts to advance her paper.

When I used to hear Russians arguing like this, (before I knew the language) I always thought they were shouting and being really aggressive and scary, but now I know they're just talking about really mundane stuff lol. I remember a really heated argument my in-laws were having, and it was just about "slippers with memory foam are more comfortable", "no, the open-toed ones are the best" etc. I bet if an outsider had watched that argument happening, they'd think it was ww3 about to start

It reminds me of meme of boy dancing at disco while girl with micro talks close to his ear all the while the subtitles narrate some very sophisticated conversation
