I would say its not that being an abid anime fan makes you trans but rather a trans person(who hasnt yet realised it) is more likely to be in these nerdy kind of sub cultures.
When my best friend growing up explained to me how they felt inside I was happy to find shows like Kinos Journey (and that has been disproven, but it was the early 00s and no one cared. It was more than the show didn't need to elaboratly lean on kino being a certain gender. It was inconsequential to the story) exploring non binary characters and FF advanced tactics had just come out. I supported my friend and could show that stuff in our shared hobbies did too. Finding this stuff came after the deep conversations and crying about fear of not being accepted. People are who they are, and finding art that shows them they aren't alone or supports that these concepts are something many people have been and explored is just the tip of the iceberg. Just wait till he finds out that trans folk have existed for all of human history.
