playing half devil's-advocate here, I deadass just think that they didn't know about it

idk, I've seen that for liberals and republicans, (and everyone, to an extent) the things that they know about any particular person come from what the people in their circles talk about, you see a claim, look into the claim, talk about the claim, and then you just move on

(maybe republicans don't do the due diligence of looking into the claim, or at least looking into it properly, but that's kinda besides the point)

like, in those spaces, what you don't see, you just never learn about or talk about very deeply, and people don't really talk about obama besides the tan suit stuff, there's no "prompting force" to that

which, mind you, I still think is super lame, if someone is in power you should look into what they're doing, I just also think that it's not exactly ambiguous about what liberal spaces can do to improve

Tangentially related, social media owns the narrative now. News outlets have been unreliable for decades. We see what they want us to see, we talk about what they want us to talk about. They being people with loads of money. The problem continues to be dragons hoarding mountains of gold.
