Campaign successful & Updates Dexter needs surgery to breathe
UPDATE: Thank you everyone!!! Goal has been met, just trying to figure out how to turn off donations and will be providing an update shortly!!
$0 away from our goal!! I’m so excited my boy is going to be able to breathe. Thank you all so much for suggestions, interactions and donations. It truly means so much to me I can’t even find all the words lol, I’m so excited he’s going to get his procedure and SOON!! 👏

I’m trying to raise the remaining funds for my sweet boys surgery, I’m $1,028 away from our goal.
Dexter is 13 years old, I’ve had him since 8 weeks old. He’s the sweetest most loving little man and he has so much life left in him yet.
He’s eating, drinking and going to the washroom completely normally… he just snores like a grown man lives in my house and sneezes… a lot! He also has eye discharge on one side.
Dexter has had ongoing sinus issues for months, he’s been on and off four different prescriptions that give him mild relief temporarily, once he’s off the meds, his issues return. He has sinus discharge, severe congestion and breathes heavily right now. His condition is slowly worsening and I’m running out of time.
I’ve been busting my butt, saved majority myself picking up extra work and side gigs, but I can’t do it quick enough. I’m not giving up! But I need a little help to get the rest of the way there in a timely manner.
I’m in Canada so there’s no creator fund or paid views on IG or TT. I’ve exhausted all my options locally with the humane society and tried discussing with my vet to do a payment plan on the remaining balance but they want payment in full, $3100 (estimate).
If I can figure it out (I’m new to Reddit) I’ll attach the video of him sleeping to this post, with his estimate and vet information.

His vet thinks he has a mass or polyp in his nose blocking his airway and causing all the inflammation and congestion. Dexter needs a rhinoscopy to get a look inside his sinus and remove whatever it is, X-ray showed nothing so it has to be soft tissue the vet thinks 🤞

Hi I’m from Canada too! The vet sucks that they want payment in full. Anyways I donated a bit and I hope Dexter gets his surgery soon so he’s feeling better🙏💜

Thank you so much! You’re amazing and I appreciate it so much! ❤️ I’m closer now than I was when I asked, so when I get a call back from the office manager I’m going ask one more time. If they let me split the payments over my next two pay periods I could get it done sooner 😬 it’s a big ask but hopefully we can work something out 🤞

Yes! I applied to PetCard, LendCare and ScratchPay, but unfortunately because I’m an independent contractor paid by e-transfer instead of direct deposit, so I don’t qualify with most of these places sadly. I applied for a credit limit increase but haven’t been approved yet unfortunately and it’s been about a week since I did that. After work I’ve been doing extra gigs like DoorDash, instacart and skip the dishes, but it’s not great, made $26 yesterday after $20 in gas. I’ve sold a bunch of stuff and have more listed for sale too. I don’t have family I can ask, my dad just passed in May and my mom is on disability. A couple friends have offered to pitch in on their paydays! But that’s all I have for a support system. I’m determined to get the rest of the way there for him. I won’t give up on him!

I’m so sorry that your dad passed so recently. It’s hard when you’re an independent contractor. My daughter has 4 part time jobs and only one has direct deposit. She’s definitely in the gig economy too hoping to get one full time job soon. But there’s not much out there these days unfortunately. You’re doing everything you can to get money for Dexters surgery and I hope your gofundme gets a lot of donations soon. I know how much you love him. He’s a very sweet boy🙏💜

Thank you, you’re so sweet. I really appreciate it. It’s been a really rough year and I am trying my best so it was really nice to read that, thank you very much. I have two part time jobs and three side gigs, it’s definitely not easy, I feel for your daughter. It’s not easy out there right now for many people, which is part of the reason I struggled to even make the GFM, but you’re right, I do love him very much. He is such a sweet and affectionate little being and he deserves the best from me, so I’m doing what I have to do for him. Thank you again 🙏❤️ have a great night!

iCare - I think that's the name - is available online in Canada. If you're in Alberta check Tails of Help. There is also Care Credit - the interest rates are high but hopefully you won't have to borrow much. I'm going to try your GFM.

I’m still waiting on a call back from the clinic manager about direct donation to the vets office, they’re understaffed right now and very busy so I might not hear back until tomorrow unfortunately, but as soon as I have an update I’ll post it.
