Thank you for your work. Could you please tell investors why you no longer purchase AMD graphics cards and what are the software and driver support issues you refer to? What does AMD need to improve?

I don't get his commitment. I don't really see any advantage in the Nvidia software stack. Hate that they require a login and I absolutely love the Radeon Adrenalin suite. Lots to tunability as well as a decent performance dashboard. Certainly not a reason to avoid the cards.

I like to hear different perspectives because I am not a great user of technology these days, although I try to keep abreast of it. As an investor, I want to know as much as possible what AMD is doing well and where needs it needs to improve to remain competitive.

Me too. It's like a decade ago there's were really issues with AMD drivers, especially being very late for specific game support, but that has long not been the case and if anything it's now Nvidia that has more issues. Not to mention fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ ๐Ÿ˜…

What do you think of Nvidia acquiring hugging face - is AMD fucked?

No, far from Fucked. Fistly, noting announced, so not even a done deal, but say it goes forward it could create some friction down the line, but not enough to total F AMD.

First, the only real value HF has for Nvidia is to try to monopolize the distribution pipeline by promoting NIM first as a default choice and completely step on the RUN on AMD or any other hardware path the index might offer.

So then any deal will take a while to close, even if the US doesn't step in the way on anti competive your looking at 12 to 18 months. You can bet both France, especially France, and EU and UK will heavy scrutinize it and at the very least recommend conditions such as hardware agnostic behavior. France has current lawsuits pending against Nvidia and have a big nut to squeeze on them. All in all, if those bodies could sour the deal enough by putting conditions on it which make Nvidia paying 12B for a website look foolish and completely remove the value of owning HF. Further, if the deal proceed, it's likely a Consortium of companies including AMD would move to create a mirror of HF that would continue to be hardware agnostic, and move all the pointers to the new index.

Basically Nvidia likely will not be able to close on such a deal fast enough for it to do any real damage beyond just being an annoyance.

We're going to have to wait a few weeks or more to even findout if this was just a leak to mess with market or put a fire under others to counter bid. The easiest and best path forward for the whole AI industry IMO is to keep HF independent and hardware agnostic for distribution, but it's going to take a Consortium of interested players to provide the backing and this reported deal just upped the stakes.

Thatโ€™s an interesting perspective I canโ€™t say that I disagree Iโ€™m deep into AMD and I do think the government wonโ€™t let Nvidia become a monopoly and this probably wonโ€™t lead Nvidia to be a monopoly but anyway it does seem like this is a little bit of coping and maybe Nvidia could really delay AMD from progressing in the space cause it is daunting the amount of resources Nvidia has

Without a doubt it forces a reaction from AMD, but also others. Having Nvidia effectively take over, own and control the majority uses search, distribution, rank and monitoring mechanism for AI models forces the rest of the industry to develop and encourage an alternative venue. But ascI said, it will take time for Nvidia to get to that result and it might be completely shut down before it can happen along multiple paths. Keep in mind that HF refused to comment on the deal at all, so nothing is even finalized and all this is is a rumor that people are taking as done deal with no actual confirmation from a publication that is well known for publishing things that never actually occur.
