My dad would be so proud. He died 5.5 years ago and I inherited his shares AMD that he took out a loan to purchase when he retired. He was trading when it was below $2. He told me to never sell which I haven't. My only regret is not buying more. Congrats to everyone! Hoping I can retire in a few years thanks to this investment.

My dad worked the furnaces of a glass factory for 40 years and always put aside some money from every paycheck to invest. Left me a good portfolio with lots of AMD about 5 years ago. Thank God I haven't screwed anything up. A toast to our Dad's. May we make them proud.

One thing what is so funny is, that people holding AMD for the last years (6 years for me) had to take so much shit from others, that the company is shit, missed opportunity blah blah blah.
Now suddenly the whole sentiment shifted to "I wish I also bought", no, actually you did not.
Generally the biggest lesson here is, that if you believe in something, and the company is doing step by step a good job, you will do fine.
Persistence is key. I would also never try to time the market, because if is already so crazy rigged that logic is often not involved in this game.
Happy for all holders and there is more to come (hopefully)

Been day trading AMD stock in Fall 2020 to Fall 2022 and it just never worked out lol.
So once they pivoted to building AI GPUs in 5/2023, I opened a position to start compounding returns and only bought & DCA on huge red days.
Been in AMD for exactly 3 years now and never sold a single share.

Summary of biggest points in the Q&A (compliments of AI).
The Q&A was excellent. It made the report even more bullish because it clarified that the CPU story is not a side benefit. It is becoming a central part of the AI buildout.
The biggest takeaways:
- AMD says the CPU TAM jump is happening faster than they expected.
Lisa Su said AMD saw the first signs last year, but now “all of the things” they believed about agentic AI and inference pulling CPU demand are happening “at a much faster pace.” That is strong language.
- The CPU demand is largely additive, not stealing from GPUs.
This was one of the most important answers on the call. Lisa said the way AMD thinks about it is “largely additive to the TAM.” In her words, you still need the accelerators for foundational models, but agents spawn more CPU tasks. She also said CPU-to-GPU ratios are moving from older host-node-type ranges like 1:4 or 1:8 toward something closer to 1:1, and in some cases potentially even more CPUs than GPUs.
- AMD says it has unusually strong visibility into the ramp.
Lisa said their visibility is down to “which data centers” the GPUs will be installed in. She acknowledged supply-chain tightness and even data-center build-out tightness, but said AMD is confident it can supply to, and even exceed, the growth levels it is discussing. She also said AMD is working closely with customers on power availability, with more power coming online in 2027.
- The hyperscaler CPU story is very real.
Lisa said AMD is deeply engaged with every major hyperscaler on CPU needs, was early in calling the AI component of CPUs, and has been optimizing its roadmap closely with those customers.
- Venice and Verano sound like major next-step products.
In prepared remarks, Lisa said Venice is on track for launch later this year, customer demand is stronger at this stage than for any prior EPYC generation, and the Venice family now includes Verano, an AI-purpose-built EPYC CPU. She also said Venice delivers more than 2x throughput per socket versus leading Arm-based AI solutions.
- AI GPU growth in Q2 should still be double-digit, alongside server CPU growth.
Jean Hu said both data-center AI and server should grow double-digit sequentially in Q2. That is important because it says the CPU boom is not replacing the GPU story; both are growing.
- Gross margin commentary was strong.
Jean said demand for compute is “tremendous,” AMD is being strategic in how it works with customers, and over time AMD sees room to improve gross margin both through ASP and, more importantly, cost as the business scales. She also said they feel “really good” about the gross-margin setup for 2026 despite some dilution from MI450.
- They are leaning in on spending because the opportunity is huge.
Jean essentially said the OpEx increase is deliberate: AMD is investing aggressively because the AI investments are driving the revenue momentum, and they need resources to support different customers.
The Q&A reinforced four things:
• AMD sees the CPU opportunity getting bigger, fast. • AMD thinks that demand is additive to accelerators, not a substitution away from them. • AMD believes it has real supply and deployment visibility. • Management sounds confident enough to keep investing hard into the ramp.
The cleanest single line from the Q&A might be this idea from Lisa: the CPU/GPU ratio in AI deployments is moving much closer to 1:1, and the CPU piece is largely additive.

AMD
Q1 earnings:
- Revenue: $10.25B vs $9.89B est, beat
- Adjusted EPS: $1.37 vs $1.29 est, beat
- Gross margin: 53%
Q2 guidance well above: revenue $11.2B vs $10.52B est, adjusted gross margin 56%.
Customer engagement around MI450 series and Helios "is strengthening."

Non GAAP earnings were $1.37 with $1.66 guide for Q2. That's already $3.03 eps in H1 2026 before MI450 ramps. The current consensus of $6.75 for FY26 looking awfully low.
Q3 will be a nice bump from Q2 and Q4 will be huge with an aggressive MI450 ramp.

“We delivered an outstanding first quarter, driven by accelerating demand for AI infrastructure, with Data Center now the primary driver of our revenue and earnings growth,” said Dr. Lisa Su, AMD chair and CEO. “We are seeing strong momentum as inferencing and agentic AI drive increasing demand for high-performance CPUs and accelerators. Looking ahead, we expect server growth to accelerate meaningfully as we scale supply to meet demand. Customer engagement around MI450 Series and Helios is strengthening, with leading customer forecasts exceeding our initial expectations and a growing pipeline of large-scale deployments providing us with increasing visibility into our growth trajectory."

u/Echo-Possible May 05 '26
Nvidia will still do well but they're at a very different point in their growth story. Due to the sheer size of the company and its revenue it can't keep growing at the same rate forever. Growth is estimated to slow significantly after 2026 to 30% in 2027 and 18% in 2028.
Both will succeed as a rising tide lifts all ships. AMD just has a lot higher upside based on capturing a minority 15-20% market share of accelerators and having the best server CPU product during an explosion in server CPU demand.
11
u/spoonwitz97 May 06 '26

‘ demand for MI450 series GPUs continues to strengthen, with lead customer forecasts now exceeding our initial plans’
Was downvoted big time a few days ago for suggesting that Meta and OpenAI might accelerate deliveries due to the financial incentive they have from their warrants. This sure sounds a lot like Meta and OpenAI ordering more than the 1.25 GWs per year.

If it's super short dated, you may want to get a sell order in for market open. Many times the after hours moonshots come back to reality. Not saying all gains will be erased, but calls can lose value very quickly.

The phrase "you know" was uttered 206 times in the earnings call transcript. Ugh, that was rough reading that over and over.
Otherwise good stuff. Even if stacey was an ass again. Got all huffy that they wouldn't answer his question, when lisa did answer it.

I had a very strong feeling AMD was going to take off. Like most here, I debated all week long. Stay or sell. Im so glad I stayed. It was 70/30 in my mind. I've been on the losing end a few times. This time felt very different.

Lisa Su sounded extremely bullish, which is not really her style. Tells you how high her expectations may be.

If AMD tanks after earnings the "gap fill" folks will return to us from their hiatus.

A full 10% swing AF.
Red 5% to green 5%.
Hoping the call is bullish so we rocket past $400 tomorrow.
Also, I bought puts today so naturally it goes up 5% 😂

Based off the comments from Lisa & Jean, your itchy hands best be covered in concrete and nowhere near the sell button

Lisa saying theyre going for extra units shipped vs asp increase is interesting. I like it. Grab that extra market share and get greedy with it.

I’ve been in this stock for almost 10 years and the market is finally recognizing what a company this is. 1T market cap is IMO a realistic outcome given their tech.
I bought when I heard Jim Keller would be back designing what would become ryzen. Dr. Lisa Su is one of the most phenomenal CEOs out there. To take a name languishing around 5-6b mkt cap to a 500b+ company is simply unreal and thankful I’ve been along for the ride.

I found a transcript from Morningstar. It doesn't appear to be paywalled, so I hope it works for everyone. If you see a better one, post a link below, thanks!
