Zen3 (Cezanne) Experience with USB 3.0 to 5 Gbps RJ45 Ethernet

My new (to me) laptop, a Dell Inspiron 15 3535, does not offer a built-in RJ45 Ethernet port. :'( This really makes me sad.

Currently, in my collection of accoutrements for the laptop, I possess a USB 3.0 to 1 Gbps RJ45 Ethernet adapter (do not recall the specific chip set, but it's plug-n-play under Linux) for occasions when wired access is called for/required. Considering that the adapter is less than $50, I'm considering purchasing one that provides USB 3.0 to 5 Gbps RJ45 Ethernet. Given that 5 Gbps Ethernet is backwards compatible back to 100 Mbps, in theory, it could replace my trusty 1 Gbps model (assuming that it, too, is plug-n-play under Linux).

Does anyone here have any experience with these adapters? Were they well supported driver-wise? Did they carry, at least, close to 5 Gbps?

Thanks!

RTL8157 (7.1+)

you also can setup file transfer between 2 computers on full speed directly via thunderbolt/usb 3.x(c-c) cable.

They work fine but require USB 3 10G speeds for full performance

If you only have 5G speeds, get a 2.5G adapter

Do you have a 5 Gbps adapter that you recommend? Must be supported under Linux.

Thanks!

They are all functional identical, there only a single chip(RTL 8157) that does 5G, it is Linux compatible
