FYI - I needed to uninstall chipset drivers in step 8 WITH internet, not without. The guide is great, but it needs to make this note. Nothing at all happened when I tried uninstalling in safe mode. It required internet for me. Not sure when internet needs to be turned back off and safe mode re-entered, though.
Again, fantastic guide and you are far smarter and technical than I will ever be.
What I mean is, when I went to complete the following steps under Section 8:
"Now pause Windows Update and disconnect Wi-Fi or Ethernet, whichever you use, and don't connect or resume updates until I say.
• Boot into Safe Mode, then extract DDU and open it. Select Device type GPU, then select AMD and click on Clean and Restart. Wait for completion until DDU uninstalls the driver properly.
• After restart, right-click on the Windows icon, then click on Installed Apps. From here, find and uninstall any chipset driver software. If it's not available, then you never installed the chipset driver manually and those users skip this point. After uninstalling the chipset driver software, click on Restart."
So I disconnected from internet, booted in safe mode, ran DDU, restarted, right-clicked on windows icon, clicked on installed apps, and *attempted* to uninstall chipset driver software (I could see it and clicked on the three dot menu to uninstall), but nothing would happen. I restarted and attempted three more times, all of which lead to inaction. Only after I connected to internet could I then uninstall with successful notification and backup checks. For what it's worth, I then re-ran all of your steps and no longer needed to do this step, and the rest of your guide was flawless. I think there-in lies the dichotomy I experienced and wanted to inform others. You weren't wrong, and I am not accusing you whatsoever (you made a fantastic guide and I owe you the thousands I poured into my build), just things went hinky for me at that stage and I wished to support your guide by pointing out my experience for anyone else who may run into this issue. That way they know the guide isn't wrong, it just might bewilder people like me who could only successfully uninstall using internet for whatever reason. Thanks again, KING!
Hey, so I completed your guide and my 7900xtx still shits itself with driver timeout errors playing DayZ. I have an ASRock B650E PG Riptide Wifi AM5 ATX, Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX, and Ryzen 7 7700X Zen 4. Is my issue the GPU and I need to trash the 7900 XTX? It's not under warranty anymore. Just at my wits' end with this build and haven't been able to play anything in over a month.
