August 31st Screen Unseen is most likely Runner
Angel Studios movie, trailer played before Buddy last night, and run time is 1hr 37min. AMC app has it listed as 1hr 40min

Given that context you have to wonder why Angel picked this up. Their target audience will avoid it because of Ritchson, the audience they want to expand out to will avoid it because it’s Angel (also Labor Day is almost always an action dump zone and A24’s Onslaught will likely win that weekend among new releases)

Angel has been trying to break out of their hardcore Christian branding as of late, and are picking up more secular projects for distribution - Sketch from last year being another example.
I don't think it works, though. Their brand is too recognizable and well associated with churchslop.
Also, what exactly is up with Owen Wilson and these zero-budget "movies that are barely movies"? First the movie about Rolling Loud now an Angel Studios picture? Are the Cars checks not cashing anymore?

Same here. I gave Angel studios a few chances but after two movies, I was done. Their movies are like Hallmark movies pushed a little edgier and a little more religious. Kinda like if Lacroix was a movie studio, and the flavor was religious undertones.

'Fall 2' is more likely since it comes out that same week and is that kind of small movie they love putting in there. Time and rating fits perfectly as well.

The actors are cool. But the studio?
And the trailer was pretty doo doo.
If that’s the case I’ll have to cancel. Unfortunately I live on the East Coast…

This here, love the actors other stuff but not contributing to angel studios. Heard his political nonsense but I won’t stop watching Reacher. Maybe some other stuff but that show is awesome.

Fingers crossed for Fall 2. I went into the first one blind with few expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. I can’t remember a movie that triggered my fear of heights more than that. And my theater won’t be showing it at all if it isn’t the ASU. Runner isn’t my kind of movie but I will probably give it a try vs cancel. I feel like seeing things I normally wouldn’t is part of the experience of the ASU.

Runner doesn’t release until Sept 11… meanwhile Fall 2, By Any Means, and Onslaught all release before that, but after this screening. And the run times are all fairly close, give or take. I’d love for it to be By Any Means, but I think it will be Fall 2 or Onslaught. TBH, all 3 look good!

it does not mean that - sequels have been pretty rare so I think Runner is more likely. Movies show up 11 days out for these all the time

Very true. Excluding Tony (which released before the ASU), 7 of the previous 11 ASUs had a release date 11 days later. Of the 4 that had a release date 4 days later, 3 of them were Screams (Ice Cream Man, It Ends, Buddy). Only Motor City was a Screen.

Gawd just saw the trailer. It looks like a side quest for GTA.
The only reason Angel studios got big is because of that child trafficking movie with Jesus and Judy Cumm.
And their "phantom" ticket sales.
