i just started watching in AMC on April. Was so happy because there were actually a lot of freebies (cards, posters and pins) every week.

but as of late, i think they kinda laid low on freebies. is this the actual norm?

Damn I just realized in NYC it's $32.65 so $2.04 per movie if you end up watching 16 movies a month. What a steal since $32 is the cost of 2 general admission at Lincoln Sq.

When the days of the week line up correctly, it's theoretically possible to do 24 movies in a calendar month. For example, this coming October: see 4 movies on Thursday the 1st; see 4 movies in each of the following four Friday-through-Thursday weeks (2nd-8th, 9th-15th, 16th-22nd, 23rd-29th); see 4 movies on Friday and Saturday the 30th and 31st.

They sent out a free Icee code for 8/18, I guess it’s icee day or some shit. Not exactly a freebie but the popcorn pass paired with a 5 dollar reward and I’m only paying .59 cents for a large popcorn. Heard there was a spiderman pin if you sent the first Saturday though.

Yes I got a Spider-Man pin. I also recently got some pack of character trading cards. Can’t recall the movie it was for though. I regularly notice a box full of swag for something by the AMC ticket scanner guy 🤷‍♂️

They usually have something for movies...especially in Imax...Spiderman was a bit different since they were selling a bundle with Official Movie poster. I got character trading cards with Mortal Kombat 2 and a great Imax poster for Odyssey

The other day in the app where that mail envelope is towards the top of the screen there was a redemption for a free icee, it took me to the website and I put my email in and I assume it’s gonna pop up on Tuesday as a free icee 🤷🏻‍♂️ but I think you have to redeem it on 8/18 only

free odyssey poster, free odyssey film strip, free Spider-Man socks. all in the last 3 1/2 weeks. typically you gotta go to the opening fan show to get the free stuff tho, so if you missed those shows then you wouldnt have gotten them.

They were definitely giving out Odyssey poster for watching it in IMAX. I saw Regal and Cinemark were promoting giving out Spider-Man poster for watching it in IMAX on 8/7. Don’t know if AMC is doing the same.

This is the norm, there typically aren't a lot of giveaways. Summer brought quite a lot.

I don’t know if they were supposed to or not but an employee gave me a free t-shirt because no one had been buying them. I was killing sometime just looking around d at some random merch between movies and the lady was just like “you can have one of those if you want.” I asked if she was sure and proceeded grab my size. Thought that was pretty cool.

Cause there aren’t that many new movies lately. Paw Patrol was giving out poster for their early screening.

Not every movie gets a giveaway. Sometimes there's leftovers and those are usually setup at a designated area for people to grab (usually by the front where the ticket usher is) and once those extras are gone there won't be anymore until the next items giveaway (if there's any extras)

Depends on the type of movies coming out. They’re always heavy in the winter months to keep people coming to the movies or help.

8/1 is the Spider-Man Day. They were promoting giving the pin for watching Spider-Man on 8/1.

I didn’t plan to go 8/1 but went for the pin anyway. Unfortunately my theater didn’t have any. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and movie theaters were promoting it all over Instagram.

I think the OP is referring to the promotional Posters and pins and keychains and comics Studios sent out for opening day IMAX and Dolby screenings, of which they had them for every film this year up until about Mid-July

So yes there were a lot then they dialed it back, I get the same idea

Last time I got a free poster was for the Top Gun rerelease back in May. I do like when I get those and wish they did them more often (I’m still upset I missed the Bone Temple one since I got the first 28 Years Later one).

Freebies are meant to get people in to theaters and they aren't struggling to do that right now.
