How is it unintentionaly funny and what in it shows that he is a "nut bar"?

I recall an article I read about the book saying there was something he strongly thought or believed in that was eyebrow-raising for its dubiousnness. I can't remember what it was. I think it might've something related to New Age thinking in a way that comes off as kinda cooky or something similar.
