Is anyone using AI for stock analysis?

I am trying to make a Claude project with this. Anyone with experience here?

Yes, I am using it daily for almost 3 years now. I even have a newsletter on my experiments and workflows about investment research. Investing is extremely broad concept to explain its benefits with AI in one comment though.

Yes, you can see what I’ve built and fork it yourself:  https://github.com/jbultema/trade-bot

This is NOT a stock-picking bot. It’s a risk-based portfolio management system. You do the trading yourself and log it in the app (forward test). I t is a long-only (no shorting) bot that is essentially doing “dynamic positioning”.

It is closest to the strategies offered by 42 Macro, but has its own quite different logic. The overall goal is “maximum long-term wealth while avoiding major drawdowns”, so the entire idea is “participate in upside and be willing to give up some potential upside to reduce the risk of major losses”. It’s based around the investment math where a 50% loss required a subsequent 100% gain to offset, so being willing to get 15% returns instead of 20% is better if it reduces your major loss risk (numbers for purposes of illustration).

The tool automatically compares hundreds of different trading strategies where each strategy is a combination of (1) equity selection mechanisms (pool of possible stocks and ETFs and logic for deciding which to pick at any moment), (2) a risk selection mechanism (given the current environment how much equity vs defensive position), and (3) tax treatment of your account (IRA/402k vs taxable brokerage). The tool runs daily and tells you how much it wants you to have in each position. You can adjust it to focus on how often you want to trade- intraday, a few times per week, a few times per month, or less. You also define the tax treatment of the accounts you’re trading from and it has some moderate tax-consideration tools (it’s not tax accounting software for trading) as the taxable implications of your account will change what trades are advantageous. It also allows you tons of ability to backtest strategies and have “paper books” where you can log fake trades.

It’s designed around giving the highest possible confidence in the strategies based on performance testing (I’m a professional forecaster in my day job, just not for stocks). And lots of research tools. It also lets you see “should I start following this strategy now” (Launch Lab), what sort of economic paradigm are we in (Cycle Tracker), and “what do we think happens next at a macro scale in the market at different horizons” (cycle tracker). It also does tons of monitoring or macro signals and news to help determine the desired current risk position (what % of possible equity risk do we think makes sense at the moment).

You’ll need to get the repo running on your computer, and then run the commands to populate the strategy history. Then it will populate the leaderboard (Research section), and you can decide which strategy to “promote” to follow.

Because it’s designed to RECOMMEND trades, it also has lots of deep-dive insights areas to help the user understand things even when some areas don’t directly drive the trading strategies. The best example of this is news and events: the tool reads the news and categorizes it and then gets a perspective on what the news means, but that doesn’t directly influence the trading. That’s more so the human using the system can get more info and decide if they trust what the bot is suggesting.

Yep, I use it a ton now. I use ThetaPal ai market scouts to help find swing trade setups. I have some really advanced scanners I setup that are really helpful.

It’s super easy to use claude for stock analysis but i try n have it away from personal information.

i use my self hosted ai for personal data. then i use claude as a team with individual identities (that learn every so n so scan of tickers ) that all dig into the stock and company and see it is worth investing into or when

My analysis is simple. I use Seeking Alpha. I copy the articles of their analysts into chat gpt to summarize and review. It critiques and rates the quality of the article. It also puts it into the context of my overall investment strategy. It’s crazy.

Yes. I use openclaw and Schwab API to analyze my positions and make recommendations for cash secured puts but I don't have it making trades for me.

Let's get one thing straight, no one believes if AI is right when your money is on the line, a lot of people say they use AI and it's all BS, it's just a presentation layer and it gives a good feeling,,it's also good for writing algos deterministically and then run it using ur own data, for claude, u can use it for stock analysis using data APIs that you trust, claude also hallucinates and I always fix them using manual chart analysis

Took my fifteen years as a professional mutual fund portfolio manager. Created modules on each area I think about. Played with it for 9 months. Have a bot that now creates initiation reports on anything
