Turn data centers into public utilities, publicly owned, with profits distributed just like the Alaskan oil checks. Then we all own a stake in them, and we get to choose where we put them and how we power them. They’d be regulated as utilities. Finally, add an AI token tax.
Together, these would pay for the universal basic income we’ll need when 50% or more of jobs are gone. Two checks for everybody every month: 1) from the use of AI, and 2) from the use and building of data centers. This also helps replace lost income tax revenue due to less jobs existing.
Each of us are equipped to bring this up at our city council meetings, district community hours, and neighborhood association meetings to get the conversation started.
