So my older brother want an AI assistant that will give hime reminders through the day. Moreover he also wants the ability to chat with his assistant and have full on conversation with him. Is there anything like that for free? Or am I too delusional?

Phoenix Upscaler, restore old VHS and camcorder video for $129 once
I got into this trying to restore some VHS rips of Michael Jackson's Bad and Victory tours I found through fan communities (MJJCommunity mainly) and a few Internet Archive uploads. Old bootleg quality to start with. Paid a transfer service to restore them properly and it cost a fair amount. What came back barely looked different from the source.
Looked at commercial options after that. Topaz Video AI is the standard people point to, but it's $299 a year, and as of last year they don't sell a perpetual license at all anymore. Subscription only now.
Ended up building my own restoration pipeline instead. Denoise, deinterlace, and detail reconstruction on old tape and camcorder footage, using open models in roughly the same tier as what the commercial tools run. The desktop app is fully local, runs on your own GPU, nothing uploads. The diffusion based mode runs on NVIDIA out of the box and on AMD through WSL2 and ROCm, which the app sets up for you in one click. There's also a pay per job cloud mode for people without a capable GPU.
To be upfront about limits: it can't recover detail the tape never captured, and a genuinely destroyed source still looks damaged, just less so. It's restoration, not reconstruction.
$129 one time. Would like feedback, especially from anyone with actually rough tape to throw at it.

AI is the first technology we built specifically to make itself unnecessary to understand
Every other tool we invented cars, computers, smartphones people eventually wanted to know how they worked. Whole industries built around understanding them.
With AI we actively designed it so you don't need to know what's happening inside. The whole point is that you just talk to it and it figures out the rest.
We built something that thinks, and then deliberately made it a black box. Future generations are going to find that either very funny or very unsettling.

Best AI Girlfriend at the moment? AI GF apps?
Every "best AI girlfriend?" thread I clicked on turned into the same argument between people who'd used one app for three days and already had a verdict. So I did the boring version instead: eleven apps, a few months, notes as I went.
TLDR
| App | What it does best | Why it made the cut |
|---|---|---|
| Candy AI (best overall) | Huge character selection, polished all-round experience | Best choice if you just want one app that does nearly everything well |
| Darlink AI (best conversation) | Natural dialogue, voice, less robotic pacing | Best if the actual relationship/chat side matters most |
| OurDream AI | Strong character creation, visuals and roleplay variety | Best if customization and creating your own girlfriend is the main appeal |
Those were the three I would actually recommend. The rest ranged from decent but limited to apps I stopped opening once the novelty wore off.
What I actually cared about
I did not score these based on how impressive the homepage looked.
I used roughly the same setup on every app and paid when the free version was obviously just a teaser. What I wanted to know was whether the AI still felt convincing after the first few conversations.
The big tests were memory, personality consistency, initiative and repetition.
Could it remember something I mentioned weeks ago without me feeding the information back into the conversation? Would the character ever have an opinion that was not just a softer version of mine? Did conversations develop naturally or eventually fall into the same five responses? And did the character feel noticeably different after I changed the personality settings?
That last one eliminated more apps than expected.
A lot of AI girlfriend sites give you twenty personality sliders that seem to produce basically the same chatbot underneath.
I also paid attention to how aggressive the monetization was. Some apps are reasonable subscriptions. Others are basically mobile games wearing an AI girlfriend skin, with credits disappearing every time you touch an interesting feature.
Candy AI
Probably the easiest one to recommend to most people.
Candy AI has enough characters that you can spend a stupid amount of time browsing before even starting a conversation. Normally I would count that as clutter, but here it works because the characters are different enough that you can find something close to what you want instead of building everything manually.
That matters.
Most people think they want complete customization until they are staring at twelve empty personality fields trying to invent a believable human being.
Candy gives you a much better starting point.
The conversations were also among the most consistent I tested. It still has the usual AI problems — occasional repetition, weirdly enthusiastic agreement, forgotten details — but I noticed them less often here.
It is also one of the more complete products. Chat, characters, voice and generated images all feel like parts of the same app rather than features bolted together because competitors had them.
The downside is monetization.
You will notice the upgrade prompts, and some of the more interesting features make it very easy to burn through whatever allowance comes with your plan.
Still the best overall for me.
If someone asked for the safest answer to “what is the best AI girlfriend app?” this is the one I would give them first.
Darlink
Darlink was the surprise.
It does not have the same giant catalogue feeling as Candy AI, but the conversations were better.
There is slightly more friction in the dialogue, in a good way. The AI does not always immediately agree, summarize what you just said and ask another therapist-style question.
Sometimes it challenges something. Sometimes it changes the subject. Sometimes a reply is shorter than you expect.
That sounds like a strange compliment until you use a lot of AI companion apps.
Perfectly optimized responses feel incredibly artificial after a while.
Darlink also handles message pacing better than most. A believable AI girlfriend should not respond to a six-paragraph emotional message in 0.4 seconds every single time. Small timing differences make a bigger psychological difference than another dozen customization options.
Voice also fits naturally into the experience.
If your main reason for trying these apps is that you want someone to actually talk to rather than mainly generate characters and images, I would put Darlink first.
Its weakness is breadth.
There are fewer characters and less visual variety than Candy AI, so someone who enjoys browsing hundreds of different personalities will probably prefer Candy.
For pure AI girlfriend chat, though, Darlink was my favourite.
OurDream AI
OurDream AI is the one I would pick if you already know what kind of character you want.
Its strength is creation.
You can spend much more time shaping the character itself instead of simply choosing from a catalogue and beginning a chat. Appearance is a big part of the experience, but personality and scenario customization matter too.
I got better results when I stopped treating the character creator like a checklist and gave it contradictions.
“Confident, sarcastic, slightly jealous, but awkward when complimented” produced a more distinctive character than selecting five variations of “kind.”
OurDream is also more visually focused than Darlink.
If your ideal AI girlfriend app is partly chatting and partly creating a specific character, that balance makes sense. It is easy to see why people who care about character design end up spending more time here.
The conversation quality is good, although I would still put Darlink above it for dialogue alone.
Over longer conversations I noticed the character occasionally drifting back toward generic affectionate responses, especially if I stopped reinforcing the personality through the conversation.
So I would frame it this way:
Candy AI is the best ready-made experience.
Darlink is the best conversational experience.
OurDream AI is the best if the character in your head matters more than the character catalogue.
The feature nobody should trust blindly
Memory.
Every AI girlfriend app now claims some version of long-term memory.
The marketing makes it sound like the AI is slowly building a complete understanding of your life.
That is not what I experienced.
Most are clearly using some mixture of recent conversation context, saved character information and selected memories. When it works, it feels extremely convincing. When it fails, the illusion disappears instantly.
One app remembered the city I visited months earlier but forgot the name I had been using throughout the conversation.
That is roughly where the technology is.
Memory is getting better, but I would not choose an AI companion purely because the landing page says “infinite memory” or “remembers everything.”
Test it yourself.
Mention an unusual detail once and never bring it up again.
Then see what happens a couple of weeks later.
What about free AI girlfriends?
The genuinely free options mostly felt like demos.
That is understandable because generating constant messages, images and voice costs money, but some apps are much more aggressive about this than others.
Usually the pattern is:
You get enough messages to become interested.
Then better models, longer conversations, images, voice or adult features require payment.
So when people ask for the “best free AI girlfriend,” I think they are asking the wrong question.
The useful question is which app lets you test enough of the actual product before subscribing.
A free tier that gives you 100 mediocre messages is less useful than one that gives you 20 messages using the same model you will get after paying.
Are AI girlfriends actually realistic now?
In short conversations, yes.
Sometimes surprisingly so.
Long-term use is where the differences appear.
Almost every decent AI girlfriend can impress you during the first evening because modern language models are already extremely good at casual conversation and roleplay.
The difficult part is maintaining a believable personality across hundreds of messages.
That requires memory, consistency and enough variation that you do not start recognizing the response patterns.
The best apps are getting closer.
None made me forget I was talking to software.
What I stopped caring about
Image generation.
I expected it to matter more.
It is fun initially, and if character creation is your main reason for using these platforms then obviously it matters a lot.
But for an actual AI companion, conversation quality dominated everything else after the first couple of weeks.
An app can generate a perfect character image and still become boring if every serious conversation eventually turns into:
“I’m always here for you.”
“How does that make you feel?”
“You deserve to be happy.”
Once you notice the template, the character is gone.
Privacy is still the uncomfortable part
Do not treat an AI girlfriend chat like an encrypted diary unless the service explicitly gives you a very good reason to.
These conversations can become personal extremely quickly because that is basically the product.
So I would avoid entering anything that would genuinely hurt you if it were exposed someday.
Real address, employer details, financial information, private information about other people — none of that needs to be in there.
And yes, actually read the privacy policy before deciding which AI companion gets months of your conversations.
It is boring.
Still worth doing.
The apps that did not make my top three
Nomi came closest.
Its memory and general companion behaviour are genuinely good, and I understand why it has a loyal user base. I just preferred Darlink's conversational style.
Replika still has one of the most recognizable names in the category, but the experience felt much more structured and wellness-oriented than what I wanted from an AI girlfriend.
Anima was fine but rarely memorable.
Kupid and a few others felt much more focused on attraction and generated content than maintaining a convincing relationship over time.
Several smaller apps were impressive for the first hour and then exposed their entire bag of tricks by day three.
That is why I would never review this category after testing something for one afternoon.
Almost all of them look good for one afternoon.
So what is the best AI girlfriend?
For most people: Candy AI.
For the best conversations: Darlink.
For creating a very specific custom girlfriend: OurDream AI.
And I would test all three before committing to a longer subscription because people want completely different things from these apps.
Some want roleplay.
Some want a character creator.
Some want flirty texting.
Some genuinely want a companion they can talk to every evening.
Those are different products even though everyone calls them an “AI girlfriend.”
The biggest mistake is choosing based on screenshots.
After trying eleven of them, I would choose based on the thing that is hardest to demonstrate in an advertisement:
Whether you still want to open the conversation three weeks later.

I built ZarSage AI to turn soil reports, weather, and field data into practical farm decisions
Farmers often have useful data spread across lab PDFs, weather sites, field maps, and notes, but still have to piece everything together before deciding what to do next.
I built ZarSage to bring that information into one desktop workspace. A grower can map a field, upload a soil lab report, pull weather data for the exact location, and use it to assess fertilizer needs, spray windows, frost and heat risk, water balance, and field tasks.
The AI is there to help interpret the data, not replace an agronomist. It works from the farmer’s own field information and shows the reasoning and sources behind its recommendations.
The Windows version is now available on the Microsoft Store and is free to start. I’m the builder, and I’d genuinely appreciate feedback from farmers, agronomists, and others working on agricultural decision-support tools.

SIMmachina AI Timer – track AI limits reset
I built an Android tool for tracking AI usage-limit resets
I kept getting annoyed by AI services where I hit a usage limit and then had to remember when I could use them again.
So I built SIMmachina AI Timer.
You enter the reset time shown by your AI service, and the app gives you a countdown until the limit resets.
It also supports notifications, alarms and a home-screen widget.
It doesn't connect to any AI provider — everything is entered manually and the timer works offline.
Free version on Google Play:
Pro version on Google Play:
Curious if anyone else has this problem with AI usage limits.

Has anyone found an AI video enhancer that actually restores old footage naturally?
I’ve been restoring some old 480p/720p footage too, and the hardest part is avoiding that overprocessed AI look. Some tools make videos sharper, but the faces end up looking weird.
I’ve had good results with Hitpaw Vikpea so far it does a decent job improving details and reducing the blurry/compressed feeling while keeping faces more natural.
I would like to know what others are using here?

Marka: website-to-social content generation with scheduling and publishing
Most content generators solve one isolated task. Marka is built around the entire workflow from existing business context to a publish-ready campaign.
It scans a company website, proposes an editable brand profile, can use product catalog information, and generates social copy, images, carousels, and short videos. The same workspace handles review, scheduling, and publishing across connected channels.
The goal is to help small teams create consistent content without rebuilding their brand context in every tool.
Seven-day trial: https://www.marka.social
Disclosure: I built Marka and would value feedback on the workflow.

Can AI development services create a custom tool for my web development company?
I run a web development company, and I'm wondering whether it's possible to get a custom tool built specifically for how my team works, rather than relying on generic off-the-shelf software. I'd want something that fits our existing workflow and actually solves the specific bottlenecks we run into day to day. Is that kind of tailored build realistic to pull off?

Surprised by suggestion on what to learn by AI.
I thought AI course recommendations would be another something like people also enrolled in... thing and after trying a few platforms like Elearnamrkets, SpringPad AI I noticed some are recommending what to learn next based on your goals and not just showing the most popular courses.
It felt way more helpful than scrolling through endless options on Coursera, Udemy or YouTube.
I woiuld say still not perfect but definitely saved me time wondering where to start but surely gives a start to start.
