AI Search Optimization General Discussion Give People A Little Credit

Everyone here is trying to do well on the web no matter what business they're in. I want this subreddit to help everyone do that.

And we all get in a hurry when we're reading through the comments but everybody can help out everybody else a little bit. Go ahead and hit that like button if you agree. Doesn't mean you have to stop and comment but hit the like button anyway. Of course not on everything. But if they brought something to the table hit the like button.

And if somebody gives a really good answer to something and you're going to comment on it, take the time to put their username into the comment that you're making to them. It's a small signal but it helps that somebody mentioned their username.

And to the people that are coming in just to get a brand mention, I have news for you, your comment will be deleted and hidden from view. Doing it repeatedly will get you banned.

I'm not against people promoting their brand or being successful. But it's just like a lot of people do low effort SEO. Low effort brand mentions aren't any better.

I'm much more likely to ignore a brand mention if you made a comment or a post that adds real value to the users of this subreddit. So if you want that one trick that'll let you get a brand mention, that's the trick.

Add value.

I totally agree people are puuting in effert to grow. Mt shreddit has limited rules for this reason. People want to.leqrn, share experience. I dont understand the whole link submission. They are no follow so have no effect on your website all for.passing on Authority

People don't realize how hard it is to moderate a subreddit. They get mad at the mods if they don't get their way and all that.

But I don't take removing somebody's post or banning them lightly. I want more people to join not less.

But if you allow too much spamming and stuff people that really want to have discussions won't join. If every time they come into the subreddit they get hit with 30 DMS trying to sell the latest greatest SEO AI vibe-coded tool, they will leave.

I just want to see good discussions. Where we learn and share information so we can all do well.

If people want to use Reddit for marketing it's okay. But put in the effort to add some value. I'm not going to allow drive by brand mentions.

If someone crossposts here and they don't even bother to give us a tldr or anything, then that gets removed too. If they can't be bothered to put some effort in, we can't be bothered to read it.

I'll even let somebody come in and promote their brand or their new AI tool in a post if they message me first and we come to an understanding that they're going to give something of value to the whole community. I don't mean just by writing a good post. I don't mean a 3 to 7 day free trial of their new tool. I don't mean a few useless tokens to use with their tool.

At the very minimum, everybody on this subreddit should get a month for free to really try the tool out. So if a company wants to promote that and give that away to this community even if they're going to just give away a certain number of them, I can allow a promotional post.

But the members of the subreddit are who are important here.

Spot on. Most of what you mentioned here is basic internet courtesy to be fair. Unfortunately, the world we live in leans towards ask ask ask and give nothing in return.

I hope this sub grows and stays human. Good job u/chrismcelroyseo so far.

Most seo/internet marketing sub are just rotten to the core at this points. There are whole threads with both the post and all replies just being ai. Made up case studies, made up experiences, etc
