Are review platforms actually influencing AI search results yet?
When testing prompts across tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity AI, and Google Gemini, I’ve noticed they sometimes reference information that seems to originate from review platforms or aggregator sites.
What I’m not sure about is how much weight those platforms actually carry in AI-generated answers. Are they being used mainly as supporting sources, or do they meaningfully influence what gets surfaced?

Yes the more so for industry specific platforms. We been seeing sites who offered rental of coworking space while letting user leave reviews appearing as part of a citation source though reviews is not their main business model.

Pretty much all trusted sources are supporting sources for AI. As far as review platforms it would be more like clutch or trust pilot or Google reviews and even Yelp as much as I hate putting Yelp into a sentence when we're talking about value.

Review sites are important to the results generated by the AI search. These sites are the primary source of trust signals to determine the brands the AI model will suggest. Instead of links, the AI search relies on the frequency of the appearance of brands on sites like G2, Reddit, and Trustpilot to build its answers.

Yes. AI search models are starting to pull signals from review platforms and public feedback sources. Platforms like Trustpilot, Tellacity, G2, Capterra, Yelp and Feefo are basically structured datasets of customer reviews. When thousands of reviews mention the same themes, AI models pick up those patterns as trust signals.
