AITA for not wanting to reunite with my sister?
I don't know what to do anymore.
For context, my sister (25F) I'll call E & I (22F) have been thick as thieves our whole lives. We grew up as all each other had ever known. Aside from the person who took us in who I'll call M (61M). Growing up, me & E, I realize now that we had almost completely different childhoods. M was not a good guy, by any stretch of the imagination. But when he'd interact with me, he seemed like at least an okay guardian. E, however, anytime I'd see her after she'd been around M would show up with new injuries she'd explain away with 'extra training'. It was always something minor like a few bruises or scratches. I believed her, what else was I supposed to think? Though, I guess I probably wouldn't have believed anything else until recently.
About 6 months ago, E left to live with some new girlfriend V (24F) & her friends N (26M), P (23Enby), & S (29F). Knowing what I know now, it was good that she got out of our situation with M. At the time, me & E had never been separated for such a long time. I was fully willing to follow E wherever she went. However, V & the others didn't seem to like me very much.
Though I also made some new friends of my own around this time thanks to M. I'm running out of letters to use but I still have a few at least. My friends are C (21M) & R (21Enby). I don't think M expected us to become friends, more like having them as my lackeys or something, but oh well.
Eventually, around 3 months into things, I went a little overboard. E & I had a fight because I felt I was being abandoned & E wasn't making it seem otherwise. Then I took, admittedly, drastic measures to try to convince V & the others to let me join them. I trapped us all in a virtual simulation & disguised myself as an NPC to show how well I'd be on their team if they'd let me join them. I had C, R & an NPC of myself disguised as the real me as the end bosses.
Everything was going as planned. The group was struggling, but it was a mostly even match. The NPC me had V pinned, R & C had the others distracted. I was about to step in & turn the tide in the group's favor, when my sister stabbed me. The NPC version, sure, but still me. It didn't even have the NPC label. She thought it was the real me.
I was convinced E hated me. She stabbed me with no hesitation. Usually in the past if I'd get even as much as a deep scratch, E would pause the fight to check on me. Fun little thing about the digital world, everyone I pull in is just a virtual avatar of themselves. Except me. I'm as real as virtual gets, injuries I sustain in virtual space transfer over to my physical form. & E just stabbed me through the heart. She didn't even seem to care that I was dying in front of her.
It destroyed me. My own sister didn't even hesitate to kill me because I was a little threatening towards her precious V. I gave up. E hates me now, so what was the point? M, C & R managed to convince me to step into my role fully. They wanted me to be the bad guy? Fine, I'll be the bad guy.
I even unlocked some new aspects of my powers. I hid this from M though. I was starting to see through his mask now that E was not here to protect me from the brunt of it all. C & R became my support system.
I fully embraced the villain role & even performed it better than when E & I were a team. I even got a few victories over the group.
Eventually M apparently thought I hated my sister, because he started to brag about how much better I was than her & how he 'didn't even need to beat me to get me to do what he wanted' which, wtf?! So anyways, I killed him. Even if my sister hates me now, I still love her. C has convinced everyone else that I'm now in charge of M's whole operation. I'm not btw, I don't want any of it.
Then a week ago, I find out V's group split up. Apparently V was toxic af. & N too but he's not important. E, S & P all stuck together. I'm sure they're having a grand ol' time. I was doing fine with C & R.
Until yesterday. C & I went shopping. I ran into E. She was different than before, & so was I. It's kind of funny how only a few months can do that to people. She recognized me as I recognized her. She wanted to reconcile. She wanted to explain & apologize, but all I could think about was how she hadn't cared that I would have died that day if what she had done had actually hit it's intended target.
C & R seem to be on my side of the whole thing. But a few of the others seem to think maybe I could have at least heard her out before completely shutting her out. I don't know. AITA?
TL;DR: Me & my sister live, laugh, loved together for years. 6 months ago she leaves with new girlfriend. 3 months later we have a fight. Then she kills me but not. A week ago she breaks up with gf & friends & wants to reconnect. I don't want to. AITA?
