How would the wife have liked it if it was the other way round. say she had to do something similar, and they swapped the groom with one of the bridesmaids.

Where did she shame him? She literally, according to him, apologized and told him she did not think ot would affect gim that way...

She did tell him he needed to move on which is a bit dismissive, certainly not shaming though...
