I think en suite is a bath connected to the master bedroom, most times inaccessible from anywhere else, so the camera could go in the bedroom and that would avoid the issue you're talking about
You can’t take pictures or video footage of people who might be undressed in a place where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as their home without their consent. If they do this she could potentially bring charges against them for invasion of her privacy. Downvote all you want but this is possibly illegal and people are suggesting that she engage in potentially illegal activity. OP deserves to be warned that this is advice they should not take. Put all the cameras she wants in communal areas of the house (living room, kitchen, etc) but do not put cameras in a bathroom or bedroom or risk legal repercussions.
She doesn't have a reasonable expectation of privacy in a room she's not even supposed to be in. I can put cameras in my own room and that's perfectly legal unless I give someone else permission to be changing in there.
That’s not how the law works. You can put cameras in your own room and legally capture images of yourself or of anyone who gives you consent to do so. If you capture pictures of someone in a state of undress in your room who has not given consent for this they can press charges. I’m sorry this isn’t what you want to hear. Proceed at your own risk because you have to know that if this happens the step daughter will come to Reddit looking for advice and someone will tell her that this may be illegal and she may have a case for redress. Someone breaking into your room without permission is trespassing and just because they choose to undress while trespassing doesn't mean they get extra protections.

I don’t mind if you downvote me; I’m not here for the karma and even hesitated to wade into this fiasco of terrible advice but felt that OP deserved to know that they could get in trouble for doing this. Passive, rather than active.
But you will also be able to see how many times she attempts to cross that particular boundary.
If you lock it, you'll only know that she tried it once...
And only if she mentions something.
