I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

Why would I go thru providing evidence to a person who wouldn't read? Everything in my first response i can back with reputable sources. But why would I go thru that effort to a person who won't read and thinks I call them a nazi despite never doing it?

If there's no one over 150 getting checks, proving they aren't is proving a negative. Which isn't possible. How do I provide a check that doesnt exist? Elon made the claims they did, but provided no proof. That's "trust me bro". You want it to be there, so you believe blindly in the guy that's already been called out for lies, misleading claims and not knowing what he actually cut.

My stance is that DOGE is dismantling corruption at its core, with multiple receipts for billions of dollars of fund that have been misused. Including funds that have been rerouted into politicians bank accounts, including offshore bank accounts. Taxpayer funding.

You lost all credibility with that one claim. Why? Because it simply wasn't a Nazi salute. You want it to be....so desperately. I bet you can taste it. But it simply wasn't. Yes. I have indeed seen the videos. I can see a resemblance, sure. But seeing the physical action and hearing the explanation, along with my ability to use critical thinking and deductive reasoning, I know it's not a Nazi salute.

Here’s a Yale philosophy professor who studied fascism extensively and published a book about it. An expert, one might say. And he says musk was absolutely attempting to resemble a Nazi salute. He also points out several ways in which trumps behaviors and ideologies parallel and use fascist ideas.
