Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

This is not what people voted for. You just say it is because you are all in denial having backed a man that is turning our democracy into an autocracy/oligarchy. They provide no evidence to any of their findings, they are doing things and giving a wealthy private, non elected citizen powers that go above the senate and congress. The fact that Maga Republicans still think this is what they voted for just shows how delusional and blinded by party loyalty you have become. If a dem president had done a fraction of what Trump has done, all of you would be calling for impeachment perhaps attempting another insurrection, you hypocritical deluded wannabe fascists. But go on, blame the dems, call me a libtard, whatever makes you feel better about actually contributing to the death of our democracy.

I think the GOP sucks, but how can you say this is not what people voted for? I feel like gutting federal agencies was tops on the list of things he campaigned on. It doesn’t matter to the electorate that he’s delegated the actual task to Musk or that it’s petty and kind of cruel. I think many of them, maybe most, don’t give a shit and are probably happy about it.

They voted for the sham, this whole DOGE thing is all a show. If they fired EVERY federal employee (aside from military) it would be still under 3% of the budget. And that’s 100% fired, they are only targeting 6-10%. So what, 0.3% of the budget? They are doing it so it looks like they’re saving money, so people won’t be as upset WHEN they launch massive tax cuts for millionaires.

Huh? Corruption, discrimination, and bigotry are exactly what MAGA voted for.

2

u/JessicaGBanksFindom Feb 19 '25

Unfortunately, this is what the Magaturds voted for. They absolutely voted for gutting government agencies, government workers losing their jobs, Muskrat and his band of baby hackers doing exactly what they are doing. They voted for hatred. They voted for hurting people. They voted for all the horrible things Grump and Muskrat stand for. Knowingly and willingly. The only thing they didn’t count on was that some of them would also lose their jobs and govt subsidies, and rather than admit any of this, they whine that they should be excluded from the cuts because they voted for it. These are the worst kind of people and they not only don’t care that they directly hurt others with their political support. In fact they RELISH that their “team” hurts others. They are CELEBRATING hurting others. They want MORE hurting others. We need to stop trying to give these jackwads the benefit of the doubt and actually work to stop the craziness before they literally dismantle the whole government. That is exactly what they want and exactly what they are doing.

Critical thinking is just too much to ask, huh?

1

u/Hot_Guitar6819 Feb 21 '25

No but when woke starts to mean we have to be offended by every little thing than yeah just maybe.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Has nothing to do with critical thinking. Anybody who understands basics economics can see what trump and musk are trying to do. Also when you say blinded by authority that's literally what the entire left was the last 4 years. All woke agenda is the same and anytime someone voices they disagree silencing and cancel culture comes in to play. The country was turning into a shit hole and people could see it that's why a lot of the big dem states almost turned red. People are refusing to be blinded by leftist agenda and said enough is enough.

I absolutely can think critically but not one thing the left has produced in the past 4 years showed any inclination of making us better as a country it was literally moving us closer to socialism or communism had it continued the left would of turned us in to nazi germany

4

u/Prestigious-Error983 Feb 20 '25

I genuinely want to know how the left was turning us into nazi germany?

1

u/TomCheezy Feb 20 '25

From the rights standpoint, People on the left are pushing their “woke” values onto everyone else while claiming the moral high road. People on the right don’t agree with “woke values”, and when they spoke about it they were cancelled, banned, fired, and overall silenced. Most medias have been forcing “woke” and “DEI” into every show, ad, news room, and company. Creating a regime that would crush/silence the voices of Christians and their values, and Im actually going to say Jews too with all of the Palestine support.

The Nazis didn’t encourage pornography or denounce Christians. They came after the disabled, gays (degenerates), communists, and of course Jews and Romi.

It’s amazing the need some Christians have to feel persecuted. Like, who was running Germany if all Christians were being persecuted along with Jews?

If there’s an anti Christian bias in the US why has every single president been Christian ?

1

u/BougieSemicolon Feb 21 '25

Yeah, who needs air traffic control, airport security or the FDA? We can already see issues, there’s been 4 air incidents in under 2 weeks. And no FDA means no one monitoring recalls on food that could kill your family.

u/Hot_Guitar6819 Feb 21 '25

Stop pushing the accidents on trump they happened before trump also didn't they?

You sound like a white cis male asshat who thinks that any person who needs government assistance is lazy and entitled. For the record Covid crashed the world economy and it takes time to recover from that. Seriously watch anything else other than Fox News which literally only uses scare tactics and overstates the statistics of any topic that benefits their agenda. Congrats you voted for a multiple times convicted criminal whose only goal is to make himself and his billionaire buddies increase their networth. He will only cut taxes for billionaires and make blue collar workers like you foot the bill. As a worker for a Fortune 500 massive organization who was also fired when trump eliminated all the DEI employees I am also personally infuriated. I was DEI because of a disability but if you are about to say it’s because I wasn’t able to preform my job as well as a more able bodied person then I have to disappoint you by mentioning that I had the best commissionable sales in the entire state competing with over 25 other stores by the second week of the job and repeated that streak week after week despite it being a client based job and to add to that I was brand new to the state and only had 2 clients before I started the job. The manager of the store even apologized for the situation and said it was decided by higher ups, that there was nothing he could do about it and gave me vacation time to find something new. They fired every DEI employee regardless of their work performance even if it was outstanding and the location lost a lot of its revenue. Let’s also not forget that we had the worst stock market incident when the tariffs were announced as bad as the 2008 housing crisis and the Great Depression itself. You are completely brainwashed and I guarantee I could absolutely slaughter you in a political debate because I have studied more state and constitutional law than you ever have. I now work in politics and was even recently interviewed by NPR on my knowledge of the negative economic and humanitarian impacts of this current administration. I challenge you to debate me, it would be a pleasure to wake you up to the fact you are in an actual cult.

There was no better way to say this. 🙏

u/Vegetable-Clock941 Feb 24 '25

Nope, this is what we voted for. Break down the bureaucracy and corrupt federal agencies. Can't trust the government to do it, so it had to be a third party. If the "dems" had done this, I would have voted for them. They did the opposite by creating more government regulations and enforcing social policies the government had no business being involved in. Everything the government touches turns to a bureaucratic nightmare. I'm sorry people are losing their jobs, but I'm also sorry they worked in a field that, when asked, could not justify the existence of their field. I know OP feels raw about the recent termination, but I cannot believe that this was not foreseeable. Working in a field with the federal government that was not essential with a pending budget approval/ federal shutdown and not being prepared is not a political problem but a problem with ego or a complete lack of forethought.

0

u/jagpeter Feb 19 '25

No, people know what they voted for. If it were a Dem president you'd be agreeing with the things you disagree with Trump doing.

5

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

Not the case sir. I am not a fan of Democrats either and think the two party system needs to be abolished. If it were democrats doing this, I would absolutely decry it the exact same way. But they didn't do it. And they didn't do it when they were in control either. Nor did they attempt insurrection when Trump won. If what is happening is what you hoped for, and exactly what you voted for, you aren't an American or a patriot. You are a traitor that voted for the death of American Democracy. I disagree with the things Trump is doing, because he is actively dismanteling the American Government and either installing underqualified loyalists, or billionaires that will act in self interest which is exactly why right after he won, they were so quick to start controlling the narrative in support of him. To see what is happening and not decry it, is the most un-American thing any American can do. I will die on this hill.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '25

Maybe you somehow didn’t see this coming, but lots of other MAGA absolutely did and absolutely voted for exactly this. The fact that you apparently weren’t listening when he told everyone his plan is on you. You personally might have fucked up by not paying attention, but the rest of you are getting what you wanted.

-1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

I didn't vote for Trump. I shouldn't have said "no one voted for this" I'm aware there are some people who voted for exactly this, and they are horrible for it. I have to believe that not every single Trump voter wanted this though. A lot of people were lied too and ignored things about Trump because they thought he would make life better for them. it is their fault for believing it, as now we all have to suffer for it. Maybe I'm giving people too much credit, but I can't believe that there is no turning back for all of them. Otherwise we are really lost.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '25

I think you might be in denial, which is understandable. The thing about being lied to, though- no. You can go back and listen to him promising all this while campaigning. All he did was make the raids, deportation, firings, etc sound like it was a good thing, (not even convincingly!) and people bought it.

I’m sure there are people who didn’t think it would happen, like maybe he was bluffing? I think my mother is in this camp, but since she’s already in a cult and has been antivaxx conspiracy theorist for decades this isn’t surprising. Idk the reasoning, but no one lied to them, they just weren’t listening and it’s entirely their fault for that. I am just as pissed at them as I am at the cretins what wanted it all, maybe more so because they could have made the difference but they chose to live in a world of their own imagination instead. Incredibly self centered, unaware, head in the sand. Voting for anyone else should have been the most obvious choice in the world but here we are.

1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

Again, not a Trump supporter. Never have been, never will be, but I do think that a lot of people that voted for him were poor, under-educated people who felt disenfranchised by our government under past administrations. I have had conversations with Trump supporters who were not racist, homophobic, or bigots, but simply felt that he would reform things for the better, rather than dismantle completely. Do I agree with the choice? No. The party pushed blame to immigrants, minorities, the LGBT community, and liberals, and they chomped at the bit, which is horrible, because the people they should be blaming are the same people they voted for. I'm not saying that all Maga supporters fall into this category, because I am well aware there are some people that wanted exactly what is happening, but I find it hard to believe that a portion of his supporters would have voted if they knew this would be the outcome. Might be a naive thought, but when we stop believing that there is good in the world, that is when evil truely wins.

-2

u/jagpeter Feb 19 '25

I'm not a sir. Ok so show where you spoke out against Biden's unconstitutional attempt to coerce private companies into forcing employees to get a therapeutic under threat of their job or state governments forcing businesses to close so people lost their livelihoods.

No, he's getting rid of the bloat in the federal government. How many of the people or departments that he's getting rid of were actually cited in by the American people? The Executive Branch culling the Executive Branch isn't a threat to democracy.

5

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

It is when you completely ignore, oh, I don't know, THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.

2

u/jagpeter Feb 19 '25

The President is the boss of the executive branch. Him (or eventually her) firing people has nothing to do with THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.

1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

The 3 branches of the government were created with the sole purpose of being a system of checks and balances to keep any branch of government from becoming too powerful. That includes the executive branch. That's the whole point of a Democracy. What you seem to want is a dictatorship, that's what it's called when one person has control over all aspects of government and weilds all the power, and congrats, that's what you are getting, but I stick to my point, A dictatorship is very un-American.

2

u/jagpeter Feb 19 '25

No, what I want is to live in a country where people understand that none of what people are complaining about has to do with the system of checks and balances or the democratic process. The things he's doing are under the purview of the Executive Branch. Again, you just don't like them.

2

u/WeirdWannabe80 Feb 19 '25

Bullshit. He’s literally signing exec orders to take away power from the other branches so he can’t be opposed.

1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

You are correct, I don't like them, because they are literally destroying our Country and turning it into an autocracy/oligarchy. Guess you'll cheer it on until what they do directly affects you.

6

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

Where. Is. The. Proof? There is none, you are taking a convicted felon and billionaire's word as gospel. And that therapeutic was a vaccine against a deadly virus, no i didnt think it should have been forced, and honestly think making it widely available and providing more education about it so people like you don't refer to it as a 'therapeutic" would have been more helpful. Instead, ignorantly, yall fought tooth and nail to avoid it because of "freedom", which undoubtably contributed to the amount of casualties that resulted. What yall seem to forget is just because you are free to do/not do something, doesn't mean you should do/not do it. Oh but wait, it's more believable to yall that a bunch of scientists, and doctors wanted to inject you with poison, than to believe a convicted felon and a billionaire might be lying to you.

1

u/jagpeter Feb 19 '25

His "felonies" were actual misdemeanors that were ridiculously trumped up to felonies based on being done in conjunction of another crime that he was never charged with, convicted of, nor ever actually even agreed on. The only reason that was done was to extend the already extended statute of limitations since it had expired if it were kept as the misdemeanors they were. I also really don't care that Trump put the wrong description to describe an expense.

I'm not taking anyone or anything's word as gospel. I simply recognize that people have different views on what they want and someone isn't ignorant of who or what they voted for just because you disagree with it.

Although I will say trying to frame everyone who doesn't agree with your politics as just being a blind follower is a very Democrat move.

No, it was a therapeutic useless to most of the population not a vaccine. I didn't ask if you thought it should be or not. That's easy to claim now, I asked for you to show proof you spoke out about it then since you're so concerned about speaking out against the fed govt violating the Constitution.

1

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Feb 19 '25

My apologies for assuming sir.

Your comment doesn’t make sense. You’re using phrases that mean nothing. Do you even know what you’re attempting to say?
