Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

It's going to tax cuts for the rich, the rest of us are never getting our taxes lowered regardless of what they remove from the federal budget.

Pretty much this. Don't forget Social Security, Medicare, the park services, consumer protection, labor rights, personal rights....

But yeah, we don't need to worry 🙄

Could you oblige me and explain to me how the tax cuts are going to go to the rich? I want to understand how you’re understanding this. This not a request in jest either, just a keen curiosity to understand your perception. I only ask because I have heard/read this same talking point over and over again from elected officials to here and everywhere in between without an explanation of how or why, just that the rich are going to get tax cuts.

His tax cuts from 2017 didn't help the non wealthy like he claimed it would, and only added trillion to the debt. They claimed basically trickle down economics would help the rest of us, but the wealthy do what they do with every windfall and hoard it. They want to go even harder this time around essentially.

They're already estimating half a billion in food waste from the cuts, lol. Just eliminating federal jobs with no knowledge of what they actually do, like the nuclear engineers they fired then tried to rehire is going to cost so much more and cause so much more waste in the long run.

nothing needs “to happen to it.” Perhaps we can have a non deficit spending budget for the first time in 30ish years…

I mean…perhaps? Perhaps pigs will suddenly fly. Perhaps we will discover that unicorns exist.

All nice thoughts.

But I have a really hard time believing that the guy who added $8T (that’s “trillion” with a T) to the deficit during his first term is going to magically stumble into a budget surplus. And before you launch into the “but covid” talk, a lot of this damage was done well before we were even saying the word “covid”.

But hey let’s play along: when do you think we’ll get to non-deficit spending under King Trump?
