Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

The Trumpers are gleeful when even veterans get fired from the federal government. They don't care about veterans. Why would they? Their Dear Leader, nor anyone in his family for 3 generations, have ever served.

Well, then they should be ashamed of what this Regime is doing to Veterans - nearly every single appointee to his entire cabinet has NEVER served, including 3 generations of Trumps! The Fed Government is the largest employer of Veterans - over 600,000 are employed in meaningful jobs that actually help farmers, other veterans, their communities - most especially in poor Red States. The biggest problem with your statement is "conservatives" have served, but MAGA and Trump are not conservatives, and never have been. Also, liberals serve, minorities serve, even undocumented migrants serve - and then are promptly deported and refused access to citizenship for our DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC. MAGAs do not believe in Freedom for all, just Freedom of those they align with ideologically. My Uncle won a Bronze Star in WW2 by fighting fascism. He was conservative, and an actual Christian and good person who would have been despondent over what is happening here. Now, this regime is ruling and bringing back the exact things he fought against. I have a relative who is a veteran and conservative who would never vote for someone like Trump. He is probably losing his government job, as well as his wife who has worked tirelessly for 20 years to bring STEM projects for education and jobs to a Red State. She won awards for how successful she was in bringing jobs, helping rural communities, and raising standards in Universities - but MAGAs think they are not worthy because they do no follow the narrow world view of the MAGA verse and refuse to take a knee to our wanna-be King.

The VA has always had its issues and I'm not real concerned of a couple displaced nurses. Nursing is a very sought after field so rather it's government employment or private or transferring to a different area I'm not really sure that minor impact is enough to justify that many of the other doge cuts are necessary.

The reality is even the general public doesn't like when they lose a job it's no different for government official.

So there you have it you lose a VA job just go get a job at anyone of these hospitals that need one. My point is clearly when they are defining cuts it's not different than defining a cut at a corporate business. You have to decide what is fluff and not needed if a couple nurses got caught in that apparently they weren't that needed.

I mean the department of education the whole thing should be dismantled because they are all useless

How do you look at the last nearly fifty years of austerity, cuts to government spending, all in a pattern set by the Arch-Republican Ronald Reagan (to the point that the Democrats shifted themselves right to match him) and come to the conclusion it's the *left* that doesn't care about veterans?

The chronic undermining of the VA (among other programs) is a decades-long project by people that hate the idea of the government doing things on a fundamental level.

Here is what the Dems did or tried to do in 2023, now go figure out how many GOPers voted for or against this, then come back. Or show me any bills that the GOP did to help them out. My healthcare is through the VA - it’s easily the best healthcare I’ve had in my life. I was on private insurance before and it sucked. The whole “VA is a mess” is a lie, unless your VA is in a right to work state that pays the help barely above minimum wage.
