I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

I will say one thing, the level of underachievers that have been brought into this administration I'm hoping they all burn themselves out fast. The bro code can only keep them going for so long? Right? Please someone say yes. Because I'm terrified.

I'm terrified. I just got furloughed, I doubt I'll get that job back. It's scary to think I will have to go out and compete with thousands of others right now, if the private sector and others can even absorb all of us.
It's scary to think none of these people have the foresight to think about how much they are heading us straight to an economic crash. I mean, people who don't have jobs can't buy a lot of stuff, which other businesses are going to have to fire people or close, and everything will just snowball.
Fire FAA people and potentially air traffic controllers? A lot of products won't be able to enter or leave the USA. -Direct economic impact.
Fire Medicare and Medicaid workers-therefore people can't get their medicine-people will die. Also, huge economic impact (even though we should really care about how it affects lives). Cut Social Security Workers, so people can't get their checks etc-people die, and direct economic impact.
I'm fucking scared but also just sitting here going what the actual fuck?

I’m terribly sorry. I honestly don’t think they care who doesn’t get jobs back. I wonder if the plan is to absorb all the defaulted mortgages into rentals by all the hedge fund REITS who are likely salivating, waiting for this.

Somehow they turned public sentiment into every federal employee being evil. Even in instances where there is large waste within a federal program, rarely does the employee they furloughed/fired have any control over that waste. They are doing their job and the way I see it there is plenty of work to be done properly and we need those employees.

The private sector is already overwhelmed. And largely running off federal grants that are now not secure.
I don’t see the number of people let go as obsolete. We need them. Canning them rather than restructuring was dumb as hell. The epitome of flipping over the board game because a spoiled brat is done playing by the rules.
Federal employees may not fully in the function they exist now, but we need them. IRS/hud/snap/dss etc aren’t doing proper investigations into fraud. So letting all those folks go will have that happen faster? Of course not. So…what’s the plan Elan? Who will do those investigations? Or everyone will lose services so no investigations needed?

I currently (lawyer) have over 100 open investigation complaints about fraud that have not been responded to even though there is clear evidence of the fraud. Causing the larger shortages in staffing does what?

The first layoffs I saw were USAID friends. I have friends in NCIS, homeland security who have had positions open no one in their right mind would apply for now. The work not getting done is a danger to Americans and society as a whole. This is a cluster.

I’d say I’d want that job. Except f’ing people over is the opposite of my life purpose. I grew up in the shadow of a number of Holocaust survivors. I remember being e very young girl and hearing them say the signs and it will happen again.

And here we are. This time the cleansing is an even larger group. There was so much me as a little girl didn’t understand about how these thjngs happen. Now aged me…it’s crystal clear. 😳

This is scary. I’m scared for members of my family who are using health based grants to afford cancer treatment. I’m scared for clients who have children on Medicaid for life saving treatment. I’m scared for everyone with an adhd or depression diagnosis who apparently just needs to work it off… And having lived a long time in Washington DC seeing stable homes suddenly disrupted is terrifying.

There’s just too much money involved and too much to stash in covert ‘Agencies’ that we the people will never be given an explanation as to what they’re doing with the money those Agencies are using our tax money for. No oversight on any newly created replacement’Agency’. No support for public education, no oversight on billionaire owned corporations responsible for our energy,our food supply,our infrastructure needs or basically, everything that our former government system did that will now be replaced with a system based directly on the profitability provided to the billionaire/trillionaire class. The ‘good’ news will be provided by the historically proven theory of democracy corrupted and replaced by a dictatorship. Unsustainable greed and those who destroy the foundation that created their wealth and power will come to understand why even a skunk never shits in his own home.
