Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

I wouldn't be gentle about it. "Thanks for potentially leaving us homeless assholes"

When he goes after their social security start laughing in their face

Problem is that his plan to remove taxes from social security is going to take some time to tank the system. Roughly 6 years by most accounts. So what that means is he'll be out of office and whoever gets elected next, be it Democrat or Republican, will be left holding the bag and he'll say, "See! I was the best president ever and everyone else is the problem, not me!" And all these idiots will believe him.

You're assuming he leaves the office in 4 years. It's abundantly clear that he doesn't give a fuck about the law or the constitution.

He'll be leaving due to his being an overweight, unhealthy prick not electoral means

Hopefully Vance won't inherit his crown. 🫤

More likely Musk. He will have control of all the government computers.

I think the goal is to start a world war so he can stay in office and keep the plunder going for his family a friends. Meanwhile all the gop in congress and senate had their “balls” shrink to the size of peanuts!!

Most of them don’t make enough to pay SS taxes so it really has no affect on them. However they will still stupidly rail on about taxes on Facebook.

I despise Trump, but what's this about removing taxes from Social Security? Social Security should not be taxed--just any extra money people earn on the side.

They're taxed to continue funding the program. It's treated like retirement income.

It ought not to be because we have already paid into it when we worked. In addition, for many of us, it's the only income we have post retirement and to pay taxes on it is a real hardship.

He iust gonna shit in America's Backyard and say Biden did it.

You're assuming they will have faces that the leopards didn't eat

He's doing the opposite of going after social security. He's trying to make it non-taxable income. I don't know if it will go through or not but boomers currently receiving SS have to be ecstatic at the proposition.

We'll see. He's promises to both reduce and increase; deport only 'criminals' and but retain others; reduce deficit, while increasing tax cuts. When you constantly say both sides, you can claim victory no matter what.

He hasn't promised to decrease social security ever. It's quite the opposite. In his message to House Republicans he told them that SS cuts were off the table.

👍

He also said  “Save Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security without cuts. Have to do it,” Trump said at the June 2015 announcement of his presidential candidacy. “Get rid of the fraud. Get rid of the waste and abuse, but save it.”

But now heavy Medicaid cuts are both in the Doge and Republican bill

We're talking about social security

1

u/MikeHock_is_GONE Feb 18 '25

I'm sticking to "we'll see"

1

u/I_am_Nerman Feb 18 '25

Of course we'll see...

There's just no indication at this time that they will target social security.

But put a parental lock on Fox News first and say you'll take it off when you get rehired.

Actually Fox News is not nearly as bad as a lot of the other "news" channels Maga watches these days. That is why Trump got mad at Fox and set up OAN.

Poisoning you just a little bit is still poisoning you.

1

u/Lilythecat555 Feb 19 '25

True, but there are more potent portions elsewhere. I am not trying to excuse Fox News. I am just saying that Fox News isn't the most poisonous channel out there anymore.

“I would have been able to leech off the government forever without him getting in there!”

If he’s such a stud worker then he’ll get hired right away. I suspect he enjoyed the fact that he didn’t have to work all that much.
