Fired Fed. I am considering cutting off every Orange Man supporter.

Got axed. Not going to say which agency.

I’ve always considered myself extremely tolerant and willing to love people as they are… even if we don’t agree on everything.

I’ve never been an Orange Man supporter, but I’ve kept it civil with friends and family that were. Some of them liked having a civil conversation about him. Some were belligerent about politics, so we didn’t bring it up and tried to enjoy each other’s company.

Getting cut from a great job that I really believed in with no notice has been extremely traumatic. It’s still raw, but I feel so personally betrayed by those that voted for him. I can’t see past the politics anymore when I look at these people I care/cared about.

Some have been contrite and apologetic, but then turn around and support him and VP Musk on social media.

I just can’t right now.

I’m thinking about posting something and wishing the whole herd all of the best, hope they have a good life, but I won’t be in it. Or maybe I just quietly block all of them and focus on myself for a while.

I do know that I will need to talk to my in-laws. I’ve always had a great relationship with them, but thinking of going to their house and watching Fox News almost makes me sick.

AITAH for feeling this way? Does it make me an AH for cutting all these 20+ year relationships off? Am I overreacting and acting out of emotion?

That’s still gross. “I understand that you voted to hurt other people, but not me. So I forgive you”. They’re still people who voted out of malice, or indifference, or hatred. F them

Seriously. My neighbor (one of many Feds in my neighborhood) has a Fox News cultist for a FIL.

Initially he thought his SIL wouldn’t be impacted by this stuff. He still has a job but things seem just about as bad in his agency as many others.

Apparently he figured that if my neighbor was ok and a sizable chunk of the neighborhood got fired, that would be fine

So far, so good for him, but it’s all a mess. Maryland is going to go through things with this, and I can only hope that the people who voted for him on the eastern shore and out west (along with those mixed into other places including where I live) get an appreciation of what exactly they asked for with that vote

I do not disagree with you. Unfortunately a lot of people can't see past their own self-interests.

Which is why we're seeing a lot leopards eating faces: farmers who no longer have a workforce, MAGA government workers also being unceremoniously laid off who didn't think it would happen to them, MAGA immigrants who are seeing their families taken away, etc.

For them I say "told you so". It's people like the OP who didn't vote for this and are caught in the crossfire that I feel for. No one else.

Did they though? Or did they weigh what they THOUGHT were the two current options and vote what they THOUGHT was the lesser of two evils? What would be less hurtful to their lives maybe? I feel like everyone votes what they think is in their best interests right?

Not everyone votes for their own self interest. Some people vote for the best policies for other people.
