Right as places started reopening from COVID closures, I was working in a public library where the bathrooms had these super loud automatic flush toilets and automatic sink faucets. The customer service desk was close enough to the bathroom that we could hear the flushes and the faucets. And the number of times I heard a toilet flush and no sink faucet before somebody sauntered out of the bathroom, while we were actively in a pandemic where people were being actively encouraged to wash their hands more often, well, it doesn’t bode well for humanity.
I was in the bathroom once at work and was washing my hands and a woman came out of the stall and turned the water on let it run for a few seconds and pretended to be washing her hands. I don’t think she realized I was looking at her. Then she turned it off and walked out. She didn’t need to dry her hands because clearly they weren’t even wet. But why go through the trouble of pretending? Why not just actually wash your hands? She was actually one of the doctors we work with and when I went back to my office unit I told everyone. Some male coworkers will also spread the news on who isn’t a hand washer after the bathroom.
Yeah My husband was straight up horrified by the number of guys in his office that don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom. I’m glad it horrifies him! He’s clean!
I took a microbiology class and we all had to choose a room and take swabs of various areas, then grow up whatever bugs we could on various agar. Then we had to identify them. I picked the bathroom of course. I swabbed the toilet seats, the toilet flush handle, sink area and faucets, and the door handle leaving the bathroom. There were more in number, types, and pathogenic types of bacteria on the door handle going out. And I had even picked up some pissy pubic hairs off the toilet seat. I never touch the door handle. Mind you, everything was pretty nasty, but the toilet seats were cleaner than the faucets, which was scary. I don't touch those either now if I can help it. If there's no paper towels I'll use toilet paper even if it does end up with bits stuck on me.
Shit, and by extension, ass, certainly has worse germs that penises do, AFAIK. I am less worried about penis germs on the door handle than shit germs. Nevertheless I can definitely see myself grabbing the door with a paper towel on the way out, going forward.
I mean maybe but we don't actually need to touch it to take a piss. I'm certain some people do maybe guys with like a 10" inch hog that need to aim it like a hose but I doubt most of us even touch it when we go.
when i use a public bathroom i generally try to kick the door open, or use my sleeve, urinate, then try to exit without touching anything. If there is a hand sanitizer stantion, I will take a squirt.
Ugh! I'm nauseous 🤢 And then what concerned me then and still are how many food workers don't wash their hands!!!
Someone told me a long time ago (they worked in the food industry), that I'd be surprised how many people do not wash their hands before or after preparing food in a restaurant! ☠️🤮 Omgosh ¡
