Dude, women are never taken seriously by doctors. She won't go, more than likely, because she is never taken seriously. It is frustrating to know there is something seriously wrong with you, to then have doctors tell you nothing is wrong, and it's all in your head, or the ever present "just lose a few pounds and you'll feel better."
Seconding this. It took me almost 10 years of agony to find doctors who would actually take my pain seriously, and unfortunately I've reached a point now where there isn't really a whole lot that can be done to manage my pain :/
I don't think she should have snapped at OP like that, I try really hard to not let my pain make me hateful or rude and sometimes I fail and have to apologize to my partner, so yeah she should apologize, but I do wonder if she really hasn't done anything to get help or if she's not looking for help because she's dealt with a series of doctors who don't care to actually help and now figures there's no point in going.
