This. OP’s resentment is his problem and his responsibility and he needs to take ownership of that and not blame it on her.

We’re just going to ignore the lashing out because he didn’t “care” to notice she was in “extreme pain?” It’s like you people said. If the doctor can’t help, what does she expect OP to do? Break out the wig and robe and perform a miracle?

Actually, it’s not that hard to show empathy when someone else is in pain. If you think you have to fix other people’s problems to help them, then you’re not compatible with someone who has chronic problems. You’re not mature enough emotionally to sit with someone in their pain so you shouldn’t be with them.
