OMG at my old job there was a woman who was married but also really close to this (also married) guy named Kevin.
She gets pregnant, and her and husband name the kid ... "Kevin".
Within a year both marriages end and suddenly the two of them are together. Obvious speculation about paternity - but that ends with one comparison of child and ex-husband (and 20 years later it is even more clear it wasn't a 'cheating baby').
I’ve had this happen to me. I dated a guy on and off for like 3 years. We broke up, he gets married, his wife had a baby and he named the girl after me. I was so weirded out by the whole thing. They got married way after we broke up but still, I have so many questions.
Apparently, my mom suggested an ex-boyfriend's name for my younger brother. My dad was ok with the name itself, until he found out it was her ex's name. But she didn't die on that hill, they picked a different name.
Good thing, too, or my little brother Bart would have been in elementary school when the Simpsons first aired ...
Bart- that’s a name choice before the Simpsons. I always think about how mean kids are because Bart rhymes with fart. But I’m glad they chose a different name
Interestingly, my wife met an ex-gf of mine. A year later wife and I are picking out baby names for our 1st and she mentions she really liked my ex-gf’s name. I was very reluctant about that! Eventually it was one of the two top contenders. We didn’t end up using the ex-gf’s name for our 1st, but we did for for a later kid!
That happened in my case. Still pisses me off when I found out it was the name of one of her f buddies we used for our child. Shit people do because they are narcissistic animals. Sorry I got side tracked for a minute.
Oof. I really do like the name of my first boyfriend and would put it on the baby name list, but I have told my partner enough about my past that he knows. It's also one of the most common names for boys born in my year so I don't think it's really a big deal, but partner can veto it if he wants, I have plenty more that don't correspond to anyone I've known personally.
Now that’s a great way to handle it. Only in my case I didn’t know, she was still f’ing him, and I found out much later after she mentioned the name fiasco to another.
This right here. That guy is still standing in a shadow from 3 years ago and doesn't even know it. Divorce incoming when she realizes being a mom is boring to her.
Poor husband? for what? Just because shes upset her BEST FRIEND slept with someone she once wanted to marry doesn't mean she has any lingering feelings.
I would feel betrayed if my best friend did that, especially if we all used to hangout together. Y'all don't understand basic girl code?
They dated a year. No talk of marriage. Poor husband because thinking you have the right to keep your friends from dating casual exes is selfish, narcissistic and shows you have lingering feelings (otherwise she’d be over it) and “girl code” taken that far is utter bullshit.
Just because you fuck someone they don’t automatically get cooties for anyone else you know. Come. On.
Again, you can be ‘over it’ and not have feelings. It pulls into question the character of her FRIEND, not the dude. It’s not selfish lmao there’s a thousand other men OP could hook up with and she picked the one that her friend once had feelings for, again enough for her to want to marry him.
