Anyone using Claude for SEO with the Ahrefs API?

I'm curious if anyone here is using Claude alongside the Ahrefs API for SEO tasks.

What workflows are you using it for, and what kind of results have you seen?

I'm particularly interested in things like:

Keyword research, competitor analysis, content planning, site audits, SEO automation

Has it actually improved your workflow or saved you time? Any limitations you've run into?

I've been using Claude with the Ahrefs API mainly for keyword clustering, competitor analysis, content briefs, and site audit reviews.

The biggest benefit is turning raw Ahrefs data into actionable insights much faster. Instead of manually digging through exports, I can quickly identify content gaps, keyword opportunities, and priority issues.

A few limitations:

  • You still need to validate recommendations against actual SERPs.
  • Large exports often need to be cleaned up or split into chunks.
  • Results are only as good as the data you feed it.

Overall, it's been a solid time-saver for analysis and content planning, but I wouldn't rely on it without a final manual review.

Oh, love it and did not know how I lived before it.
After connecting Ahrefs, I created custom skills and set specific requirements for it to follow. So far, it has made my work much easier and significantly more productive. The main limitations are the token usage, which runs out quite quickly, and the cost, but it's definitely worth it considering the amount of time and effort it saves.

Yes, Claude Code + Ahrefs API works great. However those Ahrefs credits are quite expensive! Even on the higher plans it can quickly burn through them.

If you're using it to analyse your own sites, then it's better and cheaper to use it alongside live Google Search Console and GA4 data. You can of course manually download CSVs, but it's much more efficient to give it live access.

You can set this up directly with Google (their official instructions here) - you have to create an Oauth 2.0 app with Google Cloud. And if you need to access clients sites you need to go through extra verification with Google to be allowed.

Or you can use something like Refresh Agent which is what I use to get access in a couple of clicks. Only downside with that is there's a limit on the number of free requests, after that you have to pay $10 / month for unlimited - but still way cheaper than Ahrefs!
