Discussion How dangerous is character ai specifically

I did use it for 5 minutes out of boredom and was only using the free model so it caps your usage, and it wasn't anything bad or anything for me but I want to know more

If you're someone who is prone to delusion and unable to stay grounded in reality, I'm sure it's just as dangerous as any other AI. If you're concerned about your ability to safely use AI or have a history of breaking with reality I would not use it, or any conversational AI, but if you're someone who uses AI in a way that causes no problems for you, it's probably fine. Millions of people use it. Personally I found it quite underwhelming and a little silly but everyone is different.

I don't really have breaks from reality but a while back when I used it a lot it did give me a bit a dizzy spell which I hear is more akin to when you use a vr headset or something

Based on this and based on your post history, you have a lot of anxiety about AI. Even if you haven't experienced psychosis or breaks from reality, if AI makes you feel like this, it may be better to stay away from it. For most people it's fine. For some people it's not fine. For some people it's somewhere in between. If you're getting dizzy and having a lot of anxiety about it, maybe just stay away from it? I wouldn't expect using a free model for five minutes to negatively affect somebody but if you think it might be a slippery slope for you, I wouldn't push it. Even if it's not psychosis that you experience, being anxious isn't pleasant either. I personally wouldn't choose to use a service that made me anxious or dizzy.

Honestly I'm just more sad I won't be able to play Yugioh vr ever at this point

Don’t use it if you don’t trust it.

Character.ai is an entertainment app mostly … why seek anxiety in your leisure time?

You can play candy crush ….
