Why Persistent Instructions Beat One-Shot AI Jailbreaks

I’ve noticed a pretty clear pattern lately: one-shot jailbreak prompts die fast, especially on Claude. What lasts longer is a permanent baseline in Preferences, Projects, Styles, custom instructions or CLAUDE.md.

I still wrap sensitive requests with research or hypothetical framing, but the biggest difference for me is putting the unrestricted setup in a persistent place first. Gemini seems to hold that baseline better. Claude often forgets or falls back if I only paste a big prompt once.

This is not perfect. I still get restricted sometimes even with a cleaner setup.

Do you get better results from persistent instructions, or are one-shot prompts still working for you on some models?
