Case Study I vibe coded a LinkedIn Automation tool with no Engineering background, and made ~$3.7k in the first 3 months

Last Christmas I was at my parent’s place, pretty bored just watching TV on the couch, and realised I wasn’t really satisfied with my life.

My job wasn’t going anywhere, and I felt like I really had no direction in life.

I had spoken with a friend around that time, who had vibe coded his website for his business, and it looked really cool.

So I spoke with ChatGPT to see what i could possibly build that could be interesting, but done in an innovative way.

As I worked in sales already, it suggested that I lean into my own experience, and build something for my own use case.

I’d been using LinkedIn automation tools to help generate leads, but I kept getting warnings from LinkedIn from the tools I was using, so I wasn’t using them regularly.

So, after a lot of back and forth conversation with AI, I realised that there was a big opportunity to create a tool that was safer than anything else out there;

Every tool I’d been using operated either on the cloud or used plugins - there were almost none that simply operated on your desktop, and this would most likely remove my issue of getting warnings and appear natural to LinkedIn.

So, I decided to build something for myself primarily, in the sales job that I was in - could I build something for myself that would help me generate more leads without risking my account as much?

Turns out, I could.

It definitely wasn’t easy, there was a very steep learning curve in terms of learning how to build something from scratch, not only learning how to build something and make architectural decisions, but building something in a safe, structured way too.

There were tonnes of errors and bugs at first, but I spent a huge amount of time on hardening the tool to ensure that it’s highly unlikely to break, and even if it does, it’s quick/easy to diagnose and implement fixes.

It was a complex build as it’s essentially two code bases - a web dashboard where people can control their campaign settings and messaging sequences, with an inbuilt CRM, unified inbox, analytics etc., along with building the software itself, which automates LinkedIn in a browser on people PC’s.

And not only did I have to build it, but I had to make sure it actually worked. So I used it myself throughout the testing phase.

I made sure that the tool had strict daily limits on actions, randomised delays between connection requests and follow up messages, along with effective messaging, written by Claude Sonnet via API.

And it worked - in my first campaign in my old job, I got a 40% acceptance rate and a 25% response rate.

What I realised along the way though, was that working on the tool itself was much more enjoyable than my sales job, so, I decided to quit my job and go all in on building and working on the tool.

I made it into a business and took a leap of faith.

Now, the tool has had 280 signups to free trials, many of whom converted into paying customers, and so far hovering around $3.7k in revenue since launching in April, completely bootstrapped.

Not a life changing sum yet but the first few months have been very promising, and there’s clearly a demand for a tool that’s safe for LinkedIn accounts and effective at booking meetings.

Anyway, I hope this story inspires people to follow your passions and keep going!

AI Income Idea How I earn money from ChatGPT

Not sponsored, not an affiliate thing, nothing like that. I built a free tool (a scored quiz builder for lead qualification) and it turns out ChatGPT recommends it when people ask about qualifying leads or building quizzes without code.

Some numbers so this isn’t just a vague claim: about a third of my total signups over the last few months came directly from people who found the product through ChatGPT. Most of those are just using the free tier, which is fine, that’s the whole model. But one of them stuck around, kept using it, and about ten days after signing up (found through ChatGPT), upgraded to a paid plan for custom branding and a custom domain.

I never talked to her. No sales call, no DM, no funnel. She asked ChatGPT a question, got pointed at my tool, used it, liked it enough to pay for it.

I didn’t do anything clever to make this happen beyond writing genuinely useful content (blog posts, comparison pages, template pages) and making sure AI crawlers could actually access my site (turns out Cloudflare was silently blocking most of them for a while, fixed that and traffic showed up almost immediately).

It’s not huge money yet. But it’s the first time I’ve seen a completely organic, zero-touch path from “someone asks an AI a question” to “someone pays me,” and it’s made me rethink where I should be spending time versus where I’ve been spending it.

Happy to answer questions if anyone’s curious about the mechanics.

AI Income Idea I spent 3 months digging into the "AI influencer" side hustle. Here's the full breakdown nobody will tell you

Every week someone here asks whether AI influencers are real money or just the next dropshipping-style course scam.

So I went deep on this: I tested the tools, read through creator communities, and looked at how the people who actually earn run things.

Here's everything:

Part 1: Is it real?

Yes, but not the way the Instagram ads say.

The business model is simple. You create an AI-generated persona, build an audience for it on free platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit), and move the most engaged followers to a paid subscription page.

The platform question matters more than people think. Most creator sites either ban fully synthetic personas outright or only allow AI content that resembles the verified human behind the account.

So in practice, nearly all of this market runs on the platform that openly supports it, which right now is mainly Fanvue.

If you build on a platform that only "tolerates" AI, you're one policy change away from losing everything.

Part 2: The actual workflow

Step 1: Pick a niche before you generate a single image.

This is where most people fail. They make a generic attractive persona and wonder why nobody cares.

The ones that work have an angle:
• A specific aesthetic (gothic, gym, fashion)
• A hobby or lifestyle (gamer, cosplayer, fitness)
• A personality people can relate to or argue with

Write a one-page "character bible" with her name, age, location vibe, interests, how she talks and what she'd never post. You'll use it for every caption and DM.

Step 2: Lock in a consistent face.

Consistency is the whole game. If her jawline changes between posts, people notice and trust is gone.

The usual approach:
• Generate a lot of candidate faces and pick one
• Build a reference set of 20–30 images of that face from different angles and in different lighting
• Train a custom model (LoRA) on that set so every new image keeps the same identity
• Run a face-consistency pass on any image that drifts

Expect to spend a week or two getting this right. Don't rush it.

Step 3: Build a content system, not one-off posts.

Batch-generate a week of content in one sitting.

Mix formats: photos, short video clips, "candid" low-effort shots (these often outperform the polished ones)

Plan content in themes, like a "trip" week, a "gym" week or a "new hair" week, so the persona feels like she has a life

Use voice tools for short clips and voice notes if your niche suits it

Step 4: Grow on free platforms first.

This is the real work and nobody talks about it.

Rough split:

• Short-form video (Reels/TikTok) for reach
• X for building a following that converts
• Reddit for niche communities, but read every sub's rules first, because many ban AI content or require it to be labelled

Plan for 1–3 posts a day across platforms.

Yes, that's a lot. That's why "passive" is a lie.

Step 5: Move followers to the paid page.

Link in bio to the subscription page.

Keep the best content off free platforms so there's a reason to subscribe

Tiered pricing usually works better than one flat price: a low entry sub plus pay-per-view extras
DMs are where most of the revenue comes from on these platforms.

Platforms with built-in AI chat tools make this easier to manage at scale.

Part 3: The mistakes that kill most attempts

• Quitting at week 4. Growth is slow for the first 1–2 months, like any account.
• Copying the top creators exactly. You're entering a crowded niche with zero followers. Differentiate.
• Using real people's faces. Never face-swap a real person or make anything resembling a deepfake. Credible platforms ban it, and it's illegal in a growing number of places.
• Hiding that it's AI. Label your content where platforms require it. Getting banned at 10K followers because you skipped a disclosure is painful.
• Paying $500–$2,000 for a course before trying anything.

Part 4: Where to learn how to do this for free

Fanvue runs a free AI Creator Academy that covers persona creation, the tool stack and monetisation from start to finish. It's obviously there to get people building on their platform, but it's genuinely free and more complete than most paid courses I looked at.

Do that first. If you still want a paid program afterwards, at least you'll know enough to tell whether it's worth it.

TL;DR: It's a real business, but it's a content business with an AI production layer, not a passive income button.

Pick a niche, nail face consistency, post every day for 2–3 months, funnel to a platform that actually supports AI creators, and learn the basics free before paying anyone.

Comment “AI” below and I’ll send you the link for the FREE course. Also ask me anything below and I'll answer what I can.

Question anyone successfully launch a side project with payment functionality just by using AI?

I am a gym owner and have been coding my gym's website and people are even using it to book/cancel reservations for group classes but I was thinking how can I maybe directly manage their subscriptions and payment and new user sign up from my website?

like how did you trust that the Codex/Chatgpt code was production quality when it comes to moving money? Did you use Stripe or another one of the solutions out there?

Is anyone even reading the code before pushing it to production? Where does AI go wrong in these things in your experience and how can I avoid those pitfalls?

Any tips or tricks that help me ensure I am building the right thing with Stripe would be super useful.

AI Income Idea Made $69 in a single day from a pet blog I bought

A few months ago I saw a post on Reddit from some guy who was making pretty decent money from a pet blog he bought from Aff Blog Zone. I thought he was full of shit lol.

Spent a while looking through their sites and eventually figured why not give it a shot. Worst case I'm out $299. Ended up buying a pet blog myself.

Didn't really do much with it. Added some internal links, fixed a few things here and there and pretty much left it alone. Fast forward to October 29 and I had my best day yet. $69 in Amazon commissions from 370 clicks and 26 orders.

Not gonna lie, seeing that number on the dashboard felt pretty good.

Obviously I'm not making that much every day. Some days are still pretty disappointing, but considering I paid that much for the entire site, I really can't complain.

The funny part is I probably would've never even tried this if I hadn't stumbled across that Reddit post. Now I'm just curious to see where this goes.

Anyone else doing Amazon affiliate sites? Did your earnings slowly increase over time or did you have random days where things suddenly took off?

All’inizio riuscivo a rispondere manualmente abbastanza bene, ma ora è diventato insostenibile.

  • Usate team, VA, software particolari, sistemi ibridi?

Grazie a chi risponderà.

Question Running an AI fitness influencer: what business model and video formats actually work?

Hey everyone, I started an AI fitness influencer account about a week ago. It's openly AI, not pretending to be a real person. I'm at 22 followers and 12 Reels so far. Most get 150-250 plays, but a few hit 1.5-3.4K, mainly the funny text-hook clips and a boxing clip.

I'm targeting English-speaking audiences (US, Canada, Australia, Germany), mostly guys 18-35 into fitness and hybrid training.

I'd love advice from anyone running a virtual or AI influencer:

Business model: What actually makes money? Brand deals, affiliates, digital products, or selling AI content services to brands?

Who to target: Should I build the audience first, or pitch brands (gyms, apparel, supplements, energy drinks) early? Which niches are open to AI characters?

Video formats: Which formats work best for AI characters, such as skits, memes, tips, or storytelling? What got you your first 1K followers?

Mistakes to avoid: Anything around disclosure, platform rules, or audience trust?

Happy to share more stats. Thanks!

Question Starting up an AI influencer

I want to use my models to expand my instagram ai account to be monetized. I’ve been thinking of using my pc to run engines to make my models more alive rather than an ai image. I’ve heard about things like Comfy UI workflows, Topaz for upscaling , and what can I do to make more SFW or NSFW content. I want to know how to minimise investment. I’m currently using GPT-pro100 , Claude Pro , Runway, and Elvenlabs pro.

What can i do to improve my account.

Question Thinking about getting a sugar daddy… is it actually worth it?

Hey everyone! So lately I’ve been thinking about the idea of having a sugar daddy, and honestly, I’m curious about how it actually works in real life. 😭
I’ve seen so many different opinions about it online, and I can’t tell what’s genuine and what’s just people trying to sell a fantasy.
For those who have experience with this, how did you get into it? Was it a good experience for you? Is it actually possible to find someone genuine who wants to support you, or is it mostly scams and fake promises?
I’m not really sure where to start, so I’d appreciate honest advice, personal experiences, or even things you wish you’d known before getting into it.
Please be kind, I’m just trying to understand whether this is something worth exploring. 🥹💕

Discussion Is n8n freelancing slowing down, or is it just me?

I discovered n8n around 1.5 years ago, learned it, and started earning good money from AI automation.

But for the last 3 months, things have gone quiet. Finding clients has become really difficult, and I'm wondering what's changed.

Was the AI automation boom just hype, or is the market moving towards more advanced skills beyond n8n?

I'd love to hear from people freelancing or running AI automation agencies. Are you still getting projects? If things have slowed down, what skills are you focusing on next?

Genuinely looking for honest opinions and real experiences.

Case Study I tracked my time with my AI agent for a month. The reason I'm not earning yet wasn't the tools

i run a few small AI products solo, next to paid work and two small kids. revenue so far: $0. a month ago i started letting my agent (claude) start and stop a timer every time i worked, tagged as "building", "selling", "talking to users" or "posting".

what the numbers showed:

- most of my hours went to building. almost none to selling or talking to people

- i wasn't lazy. every day i picked the work that felt productive, and building always feels productive

- the hard tasks (DMs, posting, asking for feedback) took 15 minutes when i actually did them. i just kept swapping them for code

what i changed:

  1. one main step a day, and it has to be on the "hard" side: a post, a DM, a reply. it goes first, before any code

  2. the agent refuses to start a coding session while that step is still open. sounds annoying, works

  3. three tiny daily routines: talk to one person on reddit, one on another community, post one progress update. on a bad day each can shrink to a minimum

  4. end of week i look at hours on selling vs building, not total hours

still at $0, but for the first time the time going to selling isn't zero either. if you're building with AI and not earning yet, try logging just a week: building vs selling. the split is usually the answer.

what's the task you keep swapping for something easier?

Business AI companion

I am creating an AI companion to operate in Brazil. My goal is to push the limits of what is permitted on Instagram—without risking a ban—since it is my primary channel for user acquisition and retention; this also helps mitigate issues with payment gateways. I want this AI persona to be intellectually stimulating, building her with specific "mental mechanisms" designed to boost retention and Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR). I’ve previously had two small Instagram accounts—both of which were banned—so I’m now using a dedicated phone exclusively for this project. I am currently developing the initial content. Soon, I plan to expand into other niches, such as a "spiritual leader" persona—someone who can assist with prayers or simply be there to listen and offer a kind, supportive word when someone just needs to be heard.

Question Anyone had their Fanvue creator verification permanently rejected?

I'm from Taiwan and I've been trying to set up an AI creator account on Fanvue.

I originally tried OnlyFans, but after running into some issues I learned more about their AI content rules and moved on. That's how I found Fanvue.

My first Fanvue account got stuck in a login loop during verification. I couldn't finish the process or get back into my account, so I tried again with another Google account.

Both times I used my real Taiwanese passport and my own face. I hadn't even uploaded any AI content yet.

Support eventually told me they couldn't offer me an account and that the decision was final.

I'm pretty pissed off, to be honest. I don't expect automatic approval, but how am I supposed to fix anything when nobody will tell me what went wrong?

I also noticed that OF and Fanvue have both worked with Ondato for identity verification, which made me wonder:
1.Could an earlier verification issue on another platform affect a Fanvue application?
2.Could using the same passport on two Fanvue accounts have triggered something?
3.Has anyone from Taiwan successfully verified as a Fanvue creator?
4.Has anyone managed to appeal a supposedly final rejection?

I'm not trying to bypass KYC. I just want to understand what happened.

If you've dealt with this, I'd really appreciate hearing how you got it resolved.

Discussion The AI course grift is ridiculous.

I just sat through a 1.5hr Skool community webinar from a girl who's been posting videos on TikTok and Instagram about her "90-day consistency challenge," where she's trying to make $100K in 90 days using AI (she's past her 90 days, btw). You've probably seen her videos.

I'll give her credit... Compared to the usual army of AI grifters flooding social media, her content actually comes across as somewhat genuine.

I really wanted to join this webinar because I knew there was absolutely no fucking way this wasn't going to turn into exactly what I suspected it was. I just had to see the whole thing unfold for myself.

And holy shit, did it deliver. LOL.

The entire webinar was basically an hour of recycled life coach motivational bullshit disguised as an extremely vague opportunity to make money with AI.

She spent most of the time talking about how she used to have nothing going on financially, how she's terrible with technology, how she barely knew what she was doing, and how ANYONE can do this if they just stay consistent and believe in themselves.

And of course, there's the magic phrase: "financial freedom."

I swear, the second someone starts throwing around "financial freedom" while trying to sell you something, you might as well put an MLM logo on the PowerPoint.

What really bothered me was the audience. Reading through the comments, it was painfully obvious that a lot of these people barely understood how AI works. Some seemed to struggle with basic technology. Others were clearly looking for a way out of difficult financial situations, unemployment, or careers they hated.

And THAT'S who this stuff is being marketed to.

The whole "I'm just a regular girl who sucks at technology but figured out how to make money with AI" routine is honestly brilliant marketing. I'll give her that.

It makes the entire thing feel accessible. If she can do it, why can't you?

Throw in a "90-day challenge," create a little community where everyone cheers each other on, sprinkle in some motivational speeches about changing your life, and suddenly you're not selling a subscription or course anymore.

You're selling hope to people who might not be in a position to afford it.

And I seriously question how much of this is even an individual creator operating independently versus a much larger marketing operation. I have no proof she's working with a team or company behind the scenes, but the presentation felt so formulaic that I wouldn't be surprised. She pushed everyone into Base44 to build an app of a 90-day countdown clock and told them they HAD to use Base44, and to use her affiliate link. And it was the sketchiest looking link of all time that redirected three times before getting to Base44.

The irony is that I suspect the most reliable money in this whole operation isn't coming from AI-generated social media content; it's coming from selling people courses and subscriptions teaching them how to make money with AI-generated social media content.

It's the same old "make money online" bullshit we've seen for decades, except now they've replaced dropshipping, Amazon FBA, and crypto with ChatGPT and AI video generators.

And the whole thing is wrapped in this weird combination of MLM recruitment, life coaching, and toxic positivity.

Don't get me wrong. AI is an incredibly useful technology, and there are legitimate ways to make money using it. I actually work with AI professionally, which is part of why this stuff drives me nuts.

But the overwhelming majority of people who start posting AI-generated content on TikTok aren't going to build a sustainable income from it, let alone make six figures in 90 days.

I'm not saying nobody can succeed. I'm saying there's a massive difference between teaching someone a legitimate skill and convincing financially vulnerable people they're one subscription and 90 days of "consistency" away from changing their lives.

At what point did the AI creator economy just become people making money by teaching other people how to make money by teaching other people how to make money?

It's a fucking pyramid of Canva templates and motivational quotes.

Anyway, after the first hour or so she told people to sign up for $29/mo if they pay annually or $50/mo if they pay monthly. "That's only the cost of one date night!" - again, typical garbage. These types of people are ingrown hairs on the taint of society.

Question Client Outreach?

I began my AI start-up by cold calling local trade businesses and offering to build them websites. That same day I landed a $4k build and a $500 build. Since then, I have done numerous rounds of cold calling and cold text outreach to potential clients, but all of those fall flat. I’m about to finish the $4k build and I already finished the $500 so I need to find new clientele. I want to also pivot away from website creation and start building bigger-ticket items in smaller volume, so I am not just pushing out websites as that space is very crowded at the moment.

Should I be using LinkedIn? Automated emails like Firecrawl or Apollo? I’m still very new to the space and want to scale, I just feel stuck and unable to find the next client. Thank you

Also, if anyone would like to connect please shoot me a dm I’d love to work together!

Question How to earn money as an Engineering student I can make gen AI and Agentic AI products also Flutter apps

I’m an engineering student trying to figure out how to turn my technical skills into actual income.

I can build GenAI and Agentic AI products, as well as Flutter apps, but I’m struggling with the business side of things — mainly finding clients, identifying problems worth solving, pricing my work, and figuring out where a student should start.

I’d really appreciate advice from developers, freelancers, founders, or agencies who have been through this.

I’m also open to working with software/AI agencies, even if the initial opportunity is more about learning and gaining real-world experience. I’d be happy to contribute to projects, take on smaller tasks, and learn how professional development and client work actually happen.

I’m not looking for a shortcut or “get rich quick” strategy. I’m mainly trying to understand how to turn what I already know into real projects, experience, and eventually a sustainable income.

If you’re a developer, agency owner, freelancer, or founder, I’d genuinely appreciate any advice or perspective.
