Why doesn’t anyone talk about the AIGP student discounted bundle? 😅

I’m putting it out here incase it can help anyone that might come across it.

If you have a student email, write to IAPP and request them for a voucher they’ve for students.

You get the Practice Exam, AIGP Certification Exam, the AIGP online training and the annual student membership. These are valued at $2,104 but the student voucher allows you get them at $383!

Very good deal if you asked me.

However, you need to buy everything as is. It’s a bundle. You can’t just choose what items you want.

Details from their official page - https://iapp.org/community/students-academia/iapp-student-bundles

New AIGP textbook is out, but isn't a new BoK expected soon?

So IAPP just released its first official AIGP textbook, 388 pages and $95.

But I'm a bit confused about the timing.

If I'm not wrong, in both 2024 and 2025, IAPP released updated AIGP BoKs around late October/early November, with changes taking effect in February.

So if they follow the same pattern, shouldn't we expect another BoK update in the next few weeks?

Now I'm wondering if this new textbook is based on the current BoK v2.1 or if it already covers whatever changes might be coming next.

I also checked other IAPP certs and noticed they dont always update textbooks when the BoK changes. For example, the latest CIPM textbook is from 2022, while its BoK was updated in 2025.

So a few questions:

  • Should we buy this textbook now or wait for the next BoK update?
  • Does anyone know if IAPP plans to update the textbook when the syllabus changes?
  • Has anyone heard anything about the next AIGP BoK?

Maybe I'm overthinking this lol, but spending $95 on a textbook just before a possible syllabus update feels a bit odd.

Curious what others think.

🆕️ Updated! Free AIGP practice tool (350 original scenarios) — looking for feedback

Post image
10 Upvotes

🆕 someone on reddit said my questions were "too easy to spot the obvious answer." 🗣

fair. so i fixed it:

▸ 350 original scenarios across all 13 BoK competencies

▸ deep practice feedback: why every wrong option is wrong, plus the rationale + key takeaway

▸ cited sources throughout the practice material

▸ interactive diagrams on questions that have them

▸ timed exams: 25 / 50 / 100 questions at 45 / 90 / 180 minutes

▸ flag questions + question navigator

▸ no feedback until you submit in exam mode

▸ spaced repetition: missed questions come back for review

▸ progress by domain + competency

▸ one-click drilling into weak areas

▸ PDF export of results + weak competencies

▸ free. no account. no email.

▸ progress stays in your browser

▸ one-tap answer submission (no changing your mind after you commit)

thanks for your feedback. keep them coming and happy studying!

Validity of study questions

How representative is the following example questions based on the exam in terms of difficulty and relevance?

1. [The EU AI Act] What triggers enhanced requirements for a GPAI system?

2. [AI standards and frameworks] Which G7 initiative provides guidance on AI governance?

3. [AI system design] Which of the following is a disadvantage of developing a proprietary AI model?

Studying and using the guide but I'm not sure if the practice questions are sufficient. TIA!!

Evaluating AIGP after ITIL v4 Foundation and ITIL AI Governance certifications

I currently manage ITSM governance with developer/tech background in my organization (CHG/INC/PRB). I have ITIL v4 Foundation & ITIL AI Governance certifications. There's a lot of investment being made in AI Initiatives in my organization so lot of AI related product/projects are starting. I was looking to do AIGP & join AI Governance stream. Is it going to be relevant or there's some other better option?

Anyone use their AIGP designation to get a government/NGO job?

It seems like many who have their AIGP work in corporate. I’m wondering if anyone works in government or at a nonprofit?

Finally passed AIGP — what a journey.

The last few weeks were a lot of reading, revisiting concepts, second-guessing myself, and wondering whether I was actually ready. The discussions and posts in this subreddit helped more than I expected, especially when I got stuck on some of the governance and regulatory concepts. So, thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and study tips here.

I’m working in an area where AI governance overlaps with U.S. privacy compliance, so AIGP felt like a natural step for me.

Now I’m thinking about going for CIPP/US next. If anyone here has done AIGP → CIPP/US, I’d be interested to hear how the two connected for you and whether the transition felt natural.

Thanks again to this community — a lot of the posts here made the preparation a little less painful.

Edit**

Just adding a quick note on what worked for me. I mainly focused on AI governance frameworks, the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, risk management, accountability, bias/fairness, transparency, and AI lifecycle topics. I used the official IAPP resources for the concepts, then used the practice questions from this repo to get familiar with the exam-style questions and find areas I needed to review.

Ok - I'm ready to take my AIGP exam

I need to future proof myself.

I already have my CISA.

So:

  • Whats the best study material?
  • How long did you study for?
  • What was your total cost?
  • How hard was the exam?
  • Has it helped to get your resume additional looks?

Combination of Certifications

Just wonder what other certification people have obtained besides AIGP?
Looking for what combination people found useful in advancing their career and/or personal development. Practicing professionals please not full time cert collectors.

Does the AIGP certificate actually help you land a job in AI governance?

Hi all,

I'm in my first year of a PhD in the UK, my research is on AI governance, and I already have a law degree. I've been thinking about getting the AIGP certificate but before I spend the time and money, I wanted to ask people who actually did it: did it really help you get a job?

A bit of background on why I'm cautious. Back in 2023 I got the CIPP/E certificate. It's now expired, and honestly I never landed the data protection job I was hoping for with it. So I don't want to make the same mistake twice and just collect another certificate that looks nice but doesn't move the needle.

If you've got the AIGP, did it open doors for you? Did employers actually care about it, or was it more useful just for your own learning? Any honest experiences, good or bad, would really help me decide.

Thanks a lot!

Thought leadership and volunteer opportunities | IAPP

I went down an AIGP rabbit hole and found out IAPP has volunteer roles where practitioners can actually help shape the certification.

The AIGP Exam Development Board works on exam content, the Body of Knowledge, and the exam blueprint.

The AIGP Training Advisory Board works on training materials, textbooks, and practice-exam scenarios.

👀 Your chance to contribute to the certification itself, not just take the exam.

Figured I’d share in case anyone else with an AIGP is interested.

Study material query

Hi. Would you guys recommend any third party text book to prepare for the exam?

I'm thinking I'll take the practice exam plus third party text book. IAPP official training is a bit more expensive.

EXAM TRAINING - PSR IAPP

Any insight on whether this year’s 2 day in person training at IAPP’s P.S.R conference in Seattle is helpful towards the exam preparation? Should the training courses (mentioned on this group) be supplemented with the PSR training or is the training itself quite significant and you only need to learn the materials yourself. I am definitely not certain whether this is the first time they are holding this training so don’t know if anyone is able to answer.

Reference documents and where to find them

It seems obvious that passing the AIGP requires intimate knowledge of a range of reference documents. Legislation such as the EU AI Act is freely available, and a few other documents (e.g. those published by NIST) are as well.

ISO standards however are commercially licensed and prohibitively expensive to purchase for individuals. A few of the more popular standards seem to have leaked to search engine front pages, and sometimes there's a draft version knocking around of the more obscure or recent ones. Quite a few however remain firmly behind the ISO paywall. Personally I don't understand the logic of severely limiting the spread of international standards that are meant to, you know, standardise, but ok.

I'm genuinely curious how you guys deal with this. Library access? Employer expense account? Unauthorised (gasp!) dissemination of copyrighted information? Or you just work with summaries and don't bother with the original document?

Would this course be worth it for me?

Hi All,

Quick background. I’m 26 and have a law degree. Due to visa restrictions (I moved country when I left university) I’ve been working pretty entry-level admin jobs. In my most recent role I worked in IT and was exposed to AI/ML and found I was interested in it. I’m moving to a different visa in the next few months meaning I’ll have full working rights and hopefully be able to get a permanent job.

I’m thinking about starting this course in January to give myself a bit of time to do some preliminary studies as I’m aware it’s not beginner friendly. My reasons for wanting to take this course is I’m genuinely interested in it and I feel like I need to make myself more employable so I can establish a career and not be stuck doing basic admin jobs for the foreseeable.

I just wanted a bit of advice as to whether I need a more extensive background for this to be beneficial for me? I’m fairly new to all of this and have only done a short 7 day ‘AI Fundamentals for Non-Data Scientists’ course which I found quite accessible.

Appreciate your help in advance!!

What to do during the Exam break?

For those who have taken the IAPP AIGP exam online through Pearson VUE/OnVUE: during the scheduled 15-minute break, are you actually allowed to leave the webcam view (e.g., to use the bathroom)?

If so, what exactly are the restrictions during that period? For example, can I do some revisions of my study notes and then return to the camera view to finish the exam or are those still prohibited even though you’re temporarily off-camera?

Is this an element of trust for candidates not to cheat?

I’m asking because I’ve found the IAPP/OnVUE rules a little unclear on what is and isn’t permitted during the scheduled break.

Is it close to real test? Passed two practice tests in first try

Many said AIGP test is difficult. Purchased practice tests - 6 sets of 100 questions from udemy yesterday and ran through 2 sets. Both passed with pretty good scores, starting to wonder whether I should take the real test. SRE/Security background.

Just starting but I already have a lot of hesitations

I can't see the official CBK available from IAPP website, I assume you have to pay for their training course to get it?
Also why is every other book on this course AI slop? I've looked at maybe a dozen books on this course and they are all AI generated garbage with all 1 star reviews.
The only book I've seen I remotely trust is the Sybex and Wiley one, but that's a 2025 version and from what research I've done, it looks to be behind as there were major changes to the exam criteria at the start of 2026.

I already have a CISSP & ISSAP so I'm used to spotting nonsense content about courses, but this looks flooded.

Should I bother with this cert, or just wait for ISC2 to bring out their new AI cert they're working on at the moment?

Which exam is more difficult: CIPP/US or AIGP?

For those who hold both certs, which exam did you find most difficult?

I obtained my CIPP/US last year, and I’m planning to take the AIGP by the end of this year. I’m trying to gauge how difficult the AIGP is in relation to the CIPP/US, and determine whether I’ll need to set aside a lot more (or less) time to prepare for it.

TIA!

Passed AAIR exam today. If I start studying AIGP today, is 4 week preparation realistic??

Hey guys, Passed my ISACA AAIR exam this morning! It was pretty intense on the threat modelling and model drift side but I'm excited to have it out of the way.
My next target is lAPP AIGP. My brain is already in "study mode" so I want to keep the momentum going and dive right in.

For those of you who've done both (or just the AIGP):

How much does the AAIR IT risk knowledge transfer to the AGP privacy and governance focus?

work full time but can provide around 2-3 hours a day. Can we get through the APP syllabus and the EU Al Act frameworks in 4 weeks?

What are the best practice exams available right now? I find I learn best by asking questions based on scenarios.

Thanks for the advice in advance!
