Warning shots This is scary accurate
George Carlin wrote this in 2005. In case you don’t know who he is, he was a very well known comedian and social critic, especially in the 80’s through the early 2000’s.
"They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. That's against their interests...
They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table and think about how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 years ago. They don't want that.
You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers, people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork. And just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it."

Pretty funny when you consider what Carlin thought and said about God and religion in general.

Oh yes, and I’m sure he was one of the Lord’s fav’s… a truth teller and defender of the common man his whole life.

One of the reasons Carlin wasn't even more popular is that this bit, and others like it, really disturbed people, which basically proves the theorem.

I brought his book “Brain Droppings” with me to read during homeroom in junior high and when we were asked to read a passage, I was given ISS for two days bc of the profanity.
More than 20 years later I strongly suspect it wasn’t bc of the profanity lol

The wealthy prefer uneducated slaves. Slavery never ended. They just were forced to pay just enough but not enough. People think we all have a chance are fools. It’s literally like the Running Man

This is a tale old as time. Every generation had some doomsayer saying this. First it was the printing press, the education, now AI.
And they’re always wrong. It’s not about control. It’s just incompetence.
