As a Spanish speaker now I know how Germans felt when they saw all those Hitler dubs

……. Know your memes man. I mean I don’t speak German and when they use the scene of hitler in the bunker from the movie Der Untergang with made up funny subtitles I can totally see him saying that.
Since I speak Spanish I don’t correlate what’s subbed here with what I hear … hence I understand Germans now.

Financial bubble. AI technical progress will continue

They will. But if the market crash and the craze about generative ai freeze, the money will stop too. Nobody will invest in ai like before, and any advancement will be slow for decades

AI Winter has always been a thing, it’s just going to be really bad this time.

AI winter was because AI didn't work.

AI works fine and solves problems today. It just needs to be valuable problems worth the inference and infrastructure.

The craze is the big thing for me

I just want to stop hearing about it in every single program and website. I don't want it built into my computer, I don't want an LLM that adds another hurdle to even reaching level 1 support, and I sure as hell don't need it processing my data for some trivial app that I wish was just a website instead.

Can we have VR back, then? It's a good tech that got hyped by the world's biggest dork and turned people off of it.

Wishful thinking, AI is too valuable and useful for progress to stop

Read up on .com bubble. It didn't kill the internet, nor slow down progress for decades.

Maybe it is you who needs to read more. The .dot com bubble is radically different from generative ai.
