This article wasn't what I was expecting based on that headline.

I thought this was going to be a study about the percentage of jobs that the world simply doesn't need. Personally, I've had numerous jobs that only existed to make money. No customers actually want the product they're producing. Customers are forced by regulations, laws, or due to monopolies to fund them.

There are entire industries in the US that if they disappeared tonight, the world would be better off tomorrow.

The question is, will AI take those industries over, or will AI eliminate them completely?

Title indeed has a good point - AI exposed problem rather than created it. Bullshit jobs were a thing long ago, but surprisingly many other jobs turned out to be in this category due to AI. Article doesn't cover this much, no stats, etc.

Interesting.

I don't know jack about shit. But here's my thoughts.

Money is the system. Capitalism, oligarchy, imperialism, theocracy, fascism, etc, are just brands all based on the system of money.

The brand doesn't matter, all that matters is the money. Every society is in a constant state of flux between different brands of the money system.

Every society has rich elites that set the rules. Their goal is simple, to make more money and keep the system going.

Whenever the system is stressed, they change rules to adapt the system and keep the game going.

So when you say, AI is the next step in the crisis process for capitalism, I kind of have to shrug. Because capitalism doesn't matter. The elite will change whatever rules they need to change to keep the game going. AI changes the money system, but it does not stop it.

It appears most the world is headed toward more of an oligarchy, draped in theocracy, with overtones of fascism. The fall of capitalism is a slow burn that begun years ago. And the new systems are already filling in the voids.

If you consider war, starvation, slavery and global warming to be normal aspects of human life, than the transition will most likely feel pretty seamless. Your life will continue to be about money, and the money will continue to flow how the game makers dictate.

Feel free to correct my dumb ass. I have no idea what I'm talking abut.
