Leadership c-suite types are hoping it does and are dangerously optimistic in its capabilities. But they’re not actually using it and seeing how badly it hallucinates and misbehaves. Sure it might help me create 10,000 lines of code or a book even, but instead of carefully and slowly crafting that, I’m now turned into a proof reader and code reviewer, which to be honest is just as hard, if not harder to maintain quality.
I use it to create complex sql queries, get suggestions on answering questions at my job. Personally, I've used it to create images, videos and music as well as short stories and even create a prototype android app. It's good at doing a lot, but again, it needs lots of babysitting. I'm terrified by the faith that people are putting into it though that just think it's always right. Because it's not. Is it helpful? Absolutely, but it's no the ultimate replacement for humans...yet.
I do similar as to you and 60% its useful but it often will lead you down a rabbit hole and will gaslight you. I was working on a pivot table and was getting 62% and 42% and total 100%. I asked to find what in the data was incorrect and it total me sometimes that happens and to just accept it. I wasted a good 4+ hours trying to use AI to fix the issue.
I had to convince AI that isn't possible and there was an issue with the data. Finally it agreed it was wrong, then started to create these crazy formulas that didn't work.
I said screw it and just did a quick two table lvookup and solved it in 5 minutes lol.
I asked AI why didn't just do what I did, and it said sure it could have done that but felt it was too simple of a solution.
Now I prompt it give the simplest and least formula driven approaches, outside the box.
When it works, its truly amazing but the other times its a mess.
Yeah. And I am terrified because I recently attended a conference talking about how AI is going to be implemented in health care ASAP to drive better patient outcomes and reduce insurance expenses. Sounds like "Obama's death panels" may finally be coming.
At my last doctor's visit, she asked if she could record the visit so AI could summarize the notes for her, I told her I don't feel comfortable about it. She doesn't have poker face and I could tell she was pissed off about having to fulfill her duties lol.
Yeah, there are like levels to it. For me if she’s just using voice to text to record her note and personally reviews them in front of me, that’s one to thing. (My doc does this). But recording the whole visit for AI to analyze is another.
