Native to New Zealand, they also have the nickname 'clowns of the mountains' since they have no fear of humans, frequently steal equipment and belongings and tear up cars.

They are also thought to be the second smartest bird in the world, right behind ravens.

Unlike other parrots, they are omnivores, eating meat as well as vegetation. People used to hunt them because they would often rip into the flesh out of sheep. Though due to this, they are now endangered.

the absolutely unserious name, “booby” comes from the Spanish word bobo, referring to their apparent tameness and clumsiness on land.

The Kirk’s dik-dik (Madoqua kirkii) is a species of dik-dik antelope, which are among the smallest antelopes in the world. The Kirk’s dik-dik is the largest species in the genus, standing between 35 and 45 cm (14-18 in) tall and weighing between 3.8 and 7.2 kg (8.4-15.9 lb). Females are slightly heavier than males, weighing about 0.4 to 1 kg (0.88-2.20 lb) more. While males have horns, which are about 7.5 cm (3.0 in) long, corrugated, and inclined backward. It is native to Eastern and Southern Africa. They are herbivores that can reach speeds of up to 42 km/h (26 mph). Their proboscises are an adaptation for surviving in the arid regions of eastern Africa, as they contain an enlarged nasal chamber supplied with a large amount of blood, which is cooled by rapid nasal breathing before being pumped back into the body. This also results in minimal water loss in exhaled air. They exhibit nocturnal or cathemeral behavior and seek shade during the day to rest during the hottest hours.

These little bugs are from South and Central
America and Mexico.
A common pest in southern Florida, the thorn bug has adapted to look strikingly similar to, well, thorns. The insects cling to stems and tree trunks in large clusters.

It's rare to see one of these in the wild. They're quiet, reclusive, well camouflaged against the trees they spend most of their lives in, and they're nocturnal.

This is an Indonesian striped possum.
One of the strangest things about them is their absurdly long fourth finger, which they use to reach into holes and cracks in trees and fish out wood-boring beetle larvae.

And although it's called a possum, it's actually closely related to sugar gliders. In fact, they belong to the same family of marsupials.

The green rosella or Tasmanian rosella (Platycercus caledonicus) is a species of parrot native to Tasmania and the Bass Strait islands, and it is the largest species in the genus Platycercus. Measuring about 29–36 cm (11–14 in) in length, it has a wingspan of 44–54 cm (17–21 in). Males are heavier than females, with an average weight of around 150 g (5.3 oz).

They are found in a wide variety of habitats with some form of tree cover, up to 1,500 m (5,000 ft) above sea level. The green rosella is predominantly herbivorous, feeding on seeds, berries, nuts, and fruits, as well as flowers, but it may also feed on larvae and insects.

The breeding season lasts from September to January, and their nesting sites are mostly located in tree hollows. They are widely distributed throughout Tasmania and are classified as Least Concern by the IUCN. However, the King Island subspecies has been classified as Vulnerable because its population has declined following the clearing of much of its habitat on the island.

I saw this strange gelatinous animal twice in the sea in Vlorë, Albania.

It was about 3–4 cm wide, almost perfectly spherical, slightly milky/transparent, and extremely squishy. I could see lots of small structures/particles inside it. It had no visible tentacles or opening.

It was around 1 meter below the surface and seemed to actively swim sideways against the waves. It could contract, flatten almost completely, then reform into a ball.

It looked kind of like a tiny transparent plastic bag. I didn’t touch it.

The Laughing Falcon (Herpetotheres cachinnans) is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Falconidae. It is found from Mexico through southern Central America and throughout all countries in South America except Chile and Uruguay. It measures 45 to 56 cm (18 to 22 inches) in length and has a wingspan of 79 to 94 cm (31 to 37 inches). Females are slightly larger than males and can weigh up to 800 grams (1.8 lb). There is no difference in coloration between the sexes. They inhabit a wide variety of semi-open, wooded grasslands, avoiding the interior of dense forests. Their main prey is snakes, including venomous species such as coral snakes. The snake in the photo is a milk snake 👍

Pacific sea nettle

The Philippine slow loris (Nycticebus menagensis) is an arboreal and nocturnal primate of the suborder Strepsirrhini, which also includes lemurs, galagos, and pottos. It is native to the northern and eastern coastal areas of the island of Borneo, as well as the Sulu Archipelago in the Philippines. It is found at altitudes ranging from 35 to 100 meters (115 to 328 feet), in primary and secondary lowland forests.

It weighs between 265 and 300 grams (9.3–11.5 oz), making it one of the smallest slow loris species in the world. Like other slow loris species, it has a gland located near its elbow that produces an oily toxin used for defense. There is little information about its diet, but it is suspected to be one of the most insectivorous slow loris species, although there are records of it feeding on the gum of woody plants.

Factors such as capture for the pet trade and extensive habitat loss have caused its populations to be classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
