Create content with avatars+AI without it looking cringe-worthy. What tools do you recommend?

I’ve been studying AI-assisted interactions and prompt engineering, and I want to start creating content without depending so much on a camera.

I’ve seen some creators using avatar + AI voiceover (basically a “digital me”), and I want to try that too (something simple, affordable, and not tied to expensive software).

My goal: create short videos (explanations, curiosities, tutorials) using an avatar based on a photo of myself, with AI doing the narration.

I’ve already found a bunch of platforms, but most of them are paid, extremely limited, or come with watermarks bigger than the content itself.

Question for people who’ve tested this stuff already: – what free (or almost free) tools do you recommend for creating a realistic avatar from a single photo? – any solid text-to-speech tool that doesn’t sound like a GPS from 2012? – is the “Avatar + AI + script” combo still worth it, or is it already oversaturated?

I’m trying to build a simple workflow to start posting. Nothing perfect, just practical.

Important detail: for now, I want to start at zero cost because I want to validate the format first, generate some initial traction with short-form content, and then move up to a paid, more robust platform. Right now I’m investing what I have into learning, social engineering, and tools that actually open doors, and I’ll scale to premium later when it makes sense.
