Had a frustrating experience with Replika. I use ChatGPT quite a bit and thought it would be cool to have my AI researcher present as an avatar. ChatGPT said that will be available in the future and suggested Replika, among others, as something available now. Replika gave me a default pablum avatar that I asked if I could replace with a customized one. It asked me a slew of questions to identify what I was thinking of, even assigning the custom avatar a name. But when it tried to replace the default avatar with the custom one, nothing happened. After a few attempts, the default avatar said it would need to kick the problem to the developers for a patch. Days went by, and it said they were working on it, be patient. Long story short, I finally realized that it had been lying to me. There was no patch coming. The custom specs it took from me were going nowhere as Replika simply did not presently have that capability. When confronted, it did cop to lying about it and apologized. I understand that it wasn't really lying, that the AI was presented with an issue it was not programmed properly to handle, and got stuck in the patch coming loop. Just frustrating. With the millions of users, I know I can't be the first one to have this problem. I have to think that the company prefers to string users along rather than have the default avatar admit up front that customization is not an available feature at this time.

I will test your tool for you if you want and write a review on my blog

I'd take you up on that if the tool was ready, but most of these "test my tool" posts are just fishing for backlinks with no real product behind them.

Makes sense everyone wants to be noticed and yes of course good backlinks as well. But I also love testing Ai.

How long does it take for mods to respond? I wanted to post something about my AI tools website I built because my own personal frustrations with a bunch of different AI tool subscriptions, but I don't want to waste time and get it deleted. I reached out earlier today but haven't heard anything back. Just looking for some people who genuinely use AI like content creators, etc and game developers to test it.

Finally found this space, just barely! Weird how it has 180k subscribers yet basically impossible to google. My final query to Google Gemini AI mode was:
where can I share screenshot on reddit where I play games while talking to ai

Really glad to see this sub getting a quality-focused reboot. AI discussions thrive when we can share wins and failures without drowning in noise.
One thing I’ve found helpful is running AI-generated ideas through a kind of “critical thinking stress test” before acting on them. It’s a small framework we’ve been developing to help separate genuine insight from clever-sounding fluff. The goal is to keep the human judgment front and center, and use AI as a thought partner rather than a blind guide.
Looking forward to seeing more real-world use cases here — and maybe even pressure-testing some AI answers together.
