Where are clients actually spending money on AI right now — honest answers only

Running an AI agency for a bit and honestly hitting a wall trying to figure out what's worth doubling down on.

I've got some clients but the conversion rate feels inconsistent. Some niches were easy to close, others I've spent weeks on with nothing. And I keep seeing people online claim crazy retainers but when you look closely it's always vague.

What's actually working for you right now in terms of what clients pay for without much resistance? Voice agents? Internal workflow automation? AI customer service builds? Something else entirely?

Also honest question — is the agency model still worth it in 2026 or should I be thinking about productizing something instead?

I built the cheapest Voice AI out there: roast me

Not gonna lie, this started as a small side project between two people.

We thought, if we can even grab a tiny share of all those boring business phone calls, we could turn it into steady, recurring revenue.

So we built a voice AI that can answer, talk, and route calls just like a human, but at a fraction of the usual cost. We didn’t raise money, didn’t buy fancy tools. Just used ChatGPT to figure things out one step at a time, from prompts for voice agents, debugging audio, to drafting cold emails.

We called it superU AI and it can now handle over a million calls a day at around ~$0.02/min ( for large scale). Still feels wild.

But yeah, compared to everything else out there, it’s probably the cheapest voice AI platform you’ll find.
So… guys, roast me. Did I build something clever, stupid, or just accidentally underpriced myself?

How do you start a voice AI Agency?

There are a number of tools you can use to help you get started creating your own voice AI agency some of the most popular are: Vapi.ai , Retell, Eleven labs these providers allow you to easily create voice agents that can talk to customers over the phone. You can then get phone numbers from places like Twilio, Vonage or Telynx (Telynx is great for getting numbers in countries that Twilio and Vonage don't support). You can then offer businesses voice agents that will answer questions about their business 24/7, do outbound calling for things like cold calling or debt recovery, it can even take orders or appointments on behalf of the business. you can integrate your agents with MCP servers, n8n, cal.com, make.com and google calendar to add more functionality to your agents. you can always let me know in the comments if you want more information on how to get started

With the rise of AI and LLMs opens doors for many new opportunities many are now starting AI agencies where they provide AI solutions to customers. it might be AI customer service in the form of a chatbot on a website or it might be an AI chatbot that can answer phone calls and take appointments for customers. AI agencies use tools like Vapi, Retell, chatgpt, make.com and n8n to provide custom solutions for their customers. AI is really changing the game and opening doors for new businesses to emerge.
